What if the Vickers Valiant had been chosen to fulfill the airborne early warning role before it was retired from service.
The airframes chosen would have been rebuilt including the wings as there would now be a crew compartment for the radar operators and the equipment. Virtually new aircraft. Feedback from the crews that had flown the bomber, photo reconnaissance and the refueling tankers would have been noted and implemented.

The build, I'm using the Airfix 1/72 Valiant B(PR).1 kit with the SAC white metal landing gear and the BAe Nimrod AEW.3 conversion set from Cammet or MasterCasters.

Looks interesting, but why the PR version camera bay doors for an AEW aircraft?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Good question, I had already cut the bomb bay doors for another build.
