Notched the finlets, sanded the leading and trailing edges and rethought the landing gear. Do I really want it to look like a Cessna Skyhawk?  Thinking about something more suitable for a test mule. And made cut marks on the flimsy and blobby vacuformed canopy. Not psychologically prepared to cut it out yet.

Thank you! Polishing the canopy with toothpaste has helped clarify it a bit, and the obligatory dip in Future should help more.  But there are some lumps and pits that will just have to stay.  The molded in framing is more complicated than the real world version.  If there was more time and I was more ambitious I could use it as a master to cast a resin copy and break out the Mattel vacuformer.... I can't get the spatted Cessna Skyhawk look out of my mind, so I'm adding the hook and posing it in flight on a stand. At some point in the future it will be on a truck anyway.

Work week evening, so only attached the big vertical stabilizer, reinforced with a bit music wire, opened up the cockpit, rough cut out of the vacuform canopy- it's flimsy!, and added some support to the cut out opaque canopy section so it can act as a guide/buck for trimming the canopy to fit.  Sewing scissors or very gentle sanding seem to be the tools that will work best. Any other suggestions? As the end approaches primer coat will be the first coat of final color. Not finished, but getting there!

I find very sharp sewing scissors work best for me, I have more control over them (the dreaded "shakes") and then very fine sanding sponges.

Still at it!  Color Coat showed up some defects, now corrected.  Flimsy canopy is a challenge. If I finish paint tomorrow morning, apply decals and canopy at noon I should finish up tomorrow evening PDT. It's a scale o Rama so the largest 1/72 seat in the stash and an Airfix astronaut is bulky enough to serve for 1/60...

It's all together, decals are on and wrinkly from the setting solution.  Decals were not cooperative at all, but most were from an MPC boxing of an Airfix DeHaviland Beaver, so pushing 50 years old. It's 1622 local time so I have a little time before bedtime on a school night.  Pictures will go up after things dry out

Couldn't bank on staying up late, so posted finished pictures prematurely- some wrinkles still in the decals, and the Elmers glue on the canopy is not fully dry, and won't be until sometime tomorrow morning.  I changed the designation to the Ryan O-52 Gopher II Artillery spotter and reassigned the mission as a recruitment tool- hence the Barling Bomber graphics.

 I added a glass nose because I could, and it is an observation aircraft. Decals are all old and uncooperative, but worked in the end.  The red chevron might still come off.  More pix and backstory are in the completed builds thread.  I had fun with this and want to do more vacuforms.   Now on to build it's landing trailer and haul truck.  Unlike the Nu Cyclons, I actually have a plan.

Sweet model, and brave building a vac-form for a the 1WkGB.

I've got a couple of vac-forms, but there's no need to build them now because the subjects came out in injection.
