Perry Rhodan Fleetbuilding program

For a project I've had in mind for quite some time—although I'm still not entirely sure where it will eventually lead—I need a large number of Perry Rhodan spacecraft. Really a lot of them. Because of that, I've decided to work in a very small scale.

For those unfamiliar with it (which is probably most people outside Germany), Perry Rhodan is a German science-fiction series that has been published weekly in pulp magazine format since 1961, telling one continuous story. With more than 3,300 issues published so far, it has also been released in countries such as the USA, France, the Netherlands, Japan, and several others. Worldwide circulation has exceeded one billion copies. There was even a movie adaptation in the 1960s, although the less said about that, the better!

I've already built a few Perry Rhodan and Perry Rhodan-inspired models here. The Rebans and their famous snack machines, for example, are part of my own fan fiction set within the Perry Rhodan universe.

This time, however, I want to build some classic Perry Rhodan spacecraft: the iconic spherical ships with an engine torus around the equator. In the series, these vessels range in size from 60 meters all the way up to 2,500 meters in diameter. (Yes, some of the really large ones can still land on planets—but I certainly wouldn't want to be standing nearby when they do!)

For this project, I'll focus on the "smaller" types, up to about 200 meters in diameter. All models will be built in 1/4000 scale and produced on my resin 3D printer. I may also add a few other spacecraft of similar size later on to create a more varied fleet.

So this is the work of progress now:

A 100m light crusier and a 200m heavy cruiser. For the later one, I have to print it differnetly as the current separation of parts is not good. But I will continue with it for now.

More progress, two 100m light crusier, the 200m heavy cruiser and to 60m corvettes

And to put it in size, the Cologne Cathedral in the same size. And those are only the "small" ships in the series. And no, I will not build a 2500m ultra-battleship.... :)

watching with interest from here
2500M goes to 62 ish cm so hot too bad  but probably a bit much to have to move round..

and glad to hear that the story's still going.  I read a few of the books when i was a secondary school in the mid 80s, and nearly fell into the rabbit hole of getting them,  im so glad i didnt,.  just been to wikipedia and it seems that they dint carry on the series long and i think having to get the original German versions would have bankrupted me.

the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.
wow, its like freefalling into the Geofront

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

These look great - certainly easier to put together than the Revell kits.

I remember seeing the movie on TV. It's clearly a product of the groovy '60s and reminds me of the many Italian spy thrillers of the era. "Perry Rhodan - SOS aus dem Weltall"/"Mission Stardust". Here it is in its full glory:

That could have come from a studio in Japan! I was waiting for Godzilla to show up.

Indeed
