What if Grumman had stuck with the C-2A Greyhound as the base model in the similar scheme to the C-1 Trader and adapted the uses to COD/freighter, AEW, ASW and tanker. It could have been marketed for commercial users as a short to medium freighter with the option of turboprop or turbofan engines as in the Model 614 with four Garrett AFT3s. Ending up with the Greyhound 21 using twin TF34s and a redesigned wing with an in-flight refueling probe something that was omitted on the C-2A Greyhound.
It could have formed the basis for a tilt-rotor ( Bell D305).

I have the Falcon Triple conversion set IX and the Heller 1/72 E-2C Hawkeye.
The Hawkeye fuselage almost fits inside the Greyhound which  will be glued in place for rigidity.I will be using most of the parts from the Heller model on this build.

Sorry, as soon as I read Greyhound I pictured an American coach with wings..... Now there's a whif!

Nah! That would've been an Airbus!
Hates rivet counters! Eats JMNs for breakfast!

I've always liked the look of the Greyhound, its proportions worked a lot better than the Hawkeye, and it has a lot of Whiffing scope. Sadly the only choice to even start one in 1/72 is the Falcon conversion, and they're like hen's teeth!

Scalemates would have you believe there are many others, but I've yet to see one, although it seems Heller may be about to do one, great news!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

RVHP do the resin 1/72 conversion set, so do North Wings and there's a plastic 1/48 Kinetic K48025.
Hannats UK still sell the Falcon Triple Conversion sets.

Have you ever been attacked by a hen/cockrel Kit ? I swear some of my sister-in-law's are vampires
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

At one point in time I had the RVHP Grumman C-2A Greyhound resin fuselage halves but they were sold quite quickly to pay the rent along with a few other kits.
