As a result of the polling the 2026/2027 GB Season will run as follows :

1) The One Week GB 11/7/26 to 19/7/26. Moderated by myself, ably assisted by Kitbasher.

2) The Antipodean/ANZAC GB in in honour of Phil and Brian.. Basicaly anything that has any Australian or New Zealand connection. Runs from 01/08/26 until 31/10/26.. Moderators : Old Wombat &

3) The Chris's Choice GB which scored 16 Votes in Round 2 of the poll. Runs from 01/12/26 until 28/02/27.

4) The Search and Rescue GB (anything to do with search and rescue ). Runs from 1/04/27 until 30/06/27. Moderators : PR19 Kit and Scooter

So as you can see I still need volunteers to help moderate some of this season's GB's. If you nominated or supported one of them I'd seriously ask you to consider helping with the moderation. It normally doesn't involve much effort, I will set the threads up etc, and once the rules are agreed they tend to run themselves apart from a bit of "chieving" during the course of the GB and then sorting out the vote for the winner etc, again I will sort the poll out if required. It's nice to have 2 Moderators per GB.

So if you fancy giving it a go let me know.

Thanks in advance

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

PR19_Kit

I'll volunteer  for the Search & Rescue GB mod Chris.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Old Wombat

If there isn't anyone already slated for it, I'll mod the Antipodean/ANZAC GB (although I wouldn't say "no" to having/being a co-mod).

So the thing you've all been waiting for, what will "Chris Choice" GB actually entail ?

The 12th November 1918 until the 31st August 1939 GB. Runs from 01/12/2026 until 28/02/2027 (co-incidently the day before my birthday  )

Basically build anything you want, as long as you can reasonably slip it into that time period.

Some examples might be :

WWI doesn't occur. I have a scenario where this happens, or doesn't, and some builds.

The conflicts in Eastern Europe which went on until the early 20's go on for longer.

In terms of being able to reasonably fit a build into the time scale, then as an example the first jet aircraft, the He 178, first flew on 27/08/1939, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to move the development of jet aircraft forward by a few years and start an early "Jet Race".

If you want to go down the Sci-Fi route and, for instance, HG Well's War of the Worlds scenario is moved from the early 1900's until, say, 1930, then that is fine.  We can discuss, and undoubtedly will  , what the word reasonable means nearer the date.

So there it is. Build whatever you want as long as it can sit comforatbly within those date.

I hope your not dissapointed.

Why should I mind? Sounds good to me Scooter.

Did they ever make SAR versions of the F-106 or the Meteor PR19?  ;D

If they did, the builders of such a Whiff could be in for a winner..............  ;)

That's me favorite!
Technologically the plane colours and evolution including very outre design attempts, the turnover of ships from sail and predreadnought to just before WW2, and development of armor and other vehicles.
Central and South America were a hot mess, including much US intervention.
Colonialism is weakening.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

All right, I can definitely work with these GB themes!  I had a feeling Chris was going to challenge us with something from an earlier time frame, and I am up for that.  I'm not sure if I have ever dipped into that interwar period. Mrs Sandiego89 may wonder why I can't find something suitable from the stash.....

Good choice Chris.

Something else that participants might want to consider for "Between The Wars" is that the Spanish Civil War fits right into that time period. the SCW is particularly fertile ground for What-Ifs because there was a great deal of illicit arms dealing and skullduggery going on, especially in supplying the Republicans, to the point where people are STILL arguing about whether Aircraft X did or didn't take part, and if it did, in what exact colour scheme (colour pictures of the war are thin on the ground). There were many instances of civilian aircraft being converted for warlike duties too. Nationalist decals are relatively easy to come by, and Republican ones are easy to paint without decals. This gives you enormous scope to take just about anything that's period-appropriate, paint some red bands and a tricolour tail on it, claim that just one or two served in Spain, and have it be at least credible to the casual observer.

There used to be a very good website all about SCW aircraft, but alas it's gone now.

I can recommend the book Arms For Spain by Gerald Howson for all the details of just how murky and counter-intuitive things got.

I'd like to be a moderator for the ANAZC or if it's not possible the Chris is choice.
