Gondor

Well, due to the site being down for a day, this means that I have more progress pictures to show off.

This is the underside after a light coat of Humbrol "Metal Cote" Matt Aluminium, which I am happier with. I was much happier after giving the undersides a second coat of that paint.

I have been busy this evening. Three colours have been applied, and the bits of foam that ended up being glued by the paint to the model have been removed. The first paint I used was Colourcoats ACJ05 IJA#21 Midori iro, which I applied around the cockpit in preparation for the canopy being applied. Next up was Tamiya Color X-13 Metallic Blue; this was applied to the undercarriage bays and door insides. Lastly, Humbrol 14, French Blue, which is similar to the blue used on the kit's decal sheet.

If everything goes well, then tomorrow I am glueing on the canopy and touching up the French Blue tail where the aluminium rattle can oversprayed.

I found another patch that needs filling last night. It's on the spine of the aircraft, so it needs to be seen too, as it would be obvious. Not getting anything done to it as the cat came home this morning and has decided that I am his personal sleeping spot.

I did need the rest. He wanted out about the time I normally go to bed, only I had not looked at a clock and thought it was much earlier. I was rather surprised when I found out the time. I did manage to sleep my normal seven or so hours as usual too. Refreshed? Not sure.

Gondor

I have decided to change the marking option, as there are a couple of errors in my build, so I have another copy of the kit arriving in the next few days to assemble properly, unlike this one, which I am hoping to finish. The next one of these will be in the markings I started this one in. Consequently, the upper surfaces have been sprayed with Nissan Silver, although that can is running out and is a bit intermittent. I take it that Hycoat do a similar version of Nissan Silver, but I suspect it may not be called that.
Regardless, I hope to have nudged this build over the finish line in time, just not with much spare time.

The Wooksta!

I switched to Aluminium from Nissan Silver as the latter I find too grainy for 72nd. I've been using the Hicote Aluminium and find it even better than the Halfords.

Thanks for the recommendation Lee, that's what I will go with when this can finally expires.

The Wooksta!

I switched to Aluminium a good twenty years back, so anything of mine you've seen in NMF is either the Halfords or Hicote equivalent.

I have just received a second Ki-201, which will follow/be concurrent with this build. I wish I had written down somewhere the paint I used for the interior. It would save me looking up the IPMS Stockholm website again  :banghead:

While looking through my Lifecolour paints, I found a Mr Hobby paint jar. Mr Hobby, C127 Mr. Color Semi-Gloss Cockpit Color (Nakajima). So that's the cockpit interior colour that I used.
