Chris (and Fred) were not used IRL.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

The Wooksta!

I think it should be called Eccles - the photographic interpreter who spots it on a recce photo is from Yorkshire.

Except Eccles is just outside Salford.

Not to argue about anything but even a dedicated website might miss that the Bf-109s were reported in Midway by the Avenger Torpedo bombers. On the basis of the losses they suffered in contrast to the expected Devastator losses.

Wrong Eccles I'm afraid ...  ;)

Dug out my Putnam's Japanese Aircraft of the Pacific War and the last appendix is for Allied reporting names   Chris it is

The IJA tested a Me 109 E3 and this was allocated the allied code name of Mike. There were numerous erroneous reportings of the Japanese use of unlicensed built foreign types and a lot of these were allocated code names - Putnams lists them - but only 4 foreign desingned aircraft types were used. Again Putnams has them, so if anybody wants to know, ask me.

Now I know more recent research may have superceded my Putnams but I'd much rather trust the printed word by a respected author and publisher than the internet I'm afraid. Call it age  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I have No Problem with this methodology, at all.  In the age of fake news and erroneous reporting just for the sake of it, that's a much more sensible way to go.

Little bit of progress, hopefully more during the week.

Gradually getting there, it's just that the flippin Xtracolour is taking so long to dry between coats  :banghead:  :banghead:

Still hoping to get this finished by the deadline. Heat is not exactly condusive to painting at the moment. :-\
