Steve's obviously impressed too, in a cool sort of way, but he better stand a bit further away when it's launched or he'll get fried!  :-\

I'm finished with these two for now. I'll work on the other equipment (and other drones in this set) at some point.

I had a cat visitor to the lab (Felix) and he left some cat hairs that landed on the model. I didn't notice them until now...

The chrome is Molotow chrome. I put a couple of drops from the refill bottle in a cap and painted it with a brush. The decals are from several sources.

Here's Steve, inspecting the new toys:

I had fun building this and the spares will come in handy. If anyone in the US needs 1/40 figures, let me know.

One never does...  :banghead:

Came out really well.

They look purposeful. The winged one ended up pretty much as I thought it would

I wonder how having the plate just behind the engine exhaust plays with the engine.

frank2056

The plate (from a Gundam add-on parts set) is to prevent the exhaust from baking any equipment or  doofus standing behind it... The supports are movable - I had it several mm forward and it just slid mack when I was playing with deploying the launch rail.

That worked REALLY well, I'll use that idea in future. Maybe easier than trying to do it with with the original pen!

Thanks guys! The Molotow refill bottle is expensive, but it lasts forever. In fact, most of the time I just shake the bottle and paint from the drop that accumulates at the very tip of the lid. The paint is acrylic, so it will come off with isopropyl or denatured alcohol ( methylated spirits). It doesn't airbrush well, though. I have yet to use it to refill my pens, though.
