A bit of sad news for the UK members in particular.

In my role as the editor of the UK IPMS Group's Newsletter I've had Grace Bricknel, Jim's wife e-mail me to let me know that sadly he died on the 18th March just gone. He was known on this site as "Jaybe" and had been a very long term member.

I have passed on our condolances.

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

So very sad, Jim was my oldest Whiff modelling friend, after the late Mike McEvoy. Jim often said I was the reason he became a Whiff modeller too. (It's always my fault....)

When I was IPMS Branch Liaison Officer I helped start up the Sheffield Branch in the early 70s, and went along to their inaugural meeting. Jim happened to be in the area at the same time and went along to support them. He saw my in-line two seat Lightning F8 there was instantly converted!

A very good friend and and a really good modeller too.

Clear Skies Jim.

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Very sad news indeed.  Hadn't chatted with Jim for a while, it was always at Telford.

We shared the same professional background.  Would talk for ages about ATC/wizardry/Jedi stuff (it's all the same subject, haven't you seen the t-shirts?) and feel sorry for the non-ATC muggles.  And yes, that includes pilots.  Especially pilots.

Please pass on my sincere condolences to Grace, Chris.

I'm very sad to hear this. Jim was a lovely guy and so helpful with model building. He built great models too.

I think I last spoke to him about 4 years ago at Telford or Perth but it may well have been longer than that. Wish I'd gone to see him at home when I was up in Scotland last year.
