See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Downfall.  ahving looked at other Downfall-related info it appears to be an accurate Wikipedia summary.

The ASF Casualty Estimate dated 15 January 1945 that's quoted on that page goes up to February 1947.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Not forgetting the Lockheed XP2V-1 Neptune which flew in May 1945.

Without the nuclear option off the table, then development and orders would continue at pace post August 1945, however what types that would be worked up for frontline use in Olympic is another matter, however some may be possible for Coronet.

Good afternoon playmates.  Just to be clear, the one week extension means the GB will now end at midnight local time on Tuesday, 7 July.

I'll start setting up the poll before I abscond to Friuli-Venezia Giulia on the 6th.  scooter will complete prepping the poll and release it into the wild as soon as time permits thereafter.
