Much progress has occurred lately. Its a wonder I'm still married to be honest, but I digress....

And yes, I need to paint the underside of one of the ailerons. I may have snapped one and had to replace it... I still need to paint the exhaust area at the back, and the radome is just pushed on for the photos. I plan to leave it off till the bitter end in case I need to add some Lead. Otherwise its come along nicely. There are also many, many small fiddly bits which have been painted too, but they're annoying to try and get a good photo of. So I didn't.

Next is the aforementioned exhaust area (and underside of aileron). Then gloss. Then weathering. I also need to get the canopy buck polished so I can make a vacform.

That looks incredible, and incredibly good too.

It also looks like a rubber Javelin that's been stretched in all directions at the same time as well!  ;D  ;)

Of course.

As a side note, I was looking at feasible serial numbers last night, and would you believe there were some allocated! XJ836-842 and 877-887. Handily, I think I can put something together from the decals I have.

Once again, I'm struck by how the application of a few decals suddenly brings a model to life. I glossed it earlier, and after a rummage around in the spares drawer I found the leftover decals from the FAW.9 boxing that I converted into a FAW.4. So shes flying for 60 Sqn with the correct (for a P.376) serial of XJ839. Lots left to do, I'll be essentially copying the scheme from a regular Javelin, with stencils raided from whatever spares I have.

At this rate there's no reason it won't be on the stand at MAM show at the end of June.

Perfect is the enemy of Finished. I presume. I've never achieved either.

Try Fantasy Prinshop as they do small sheets of generic stencils which might be handy.

Given the size of those huge intakes i take it a new access ladder will be needed ?

Today I completed the arduous task of sanding and polishing 10 canopy bucks. But then I actually made some canopies, and thus was able to progress this build.

I'm building the demo with an open cockpit, so had to keep my patience in check to cut it into the requisite 4 parts. A coat of Gauzy Agent (Klear) awaits.

I still need to reduce the height of the two sliding portions of the canopy because they will attach to the sliding rails.

In other news all the decals are done, and I need to gloss them prior to weathering.
