Last couple of pictures for the day, and maybe until the Scottish Nationals this weekend.

The MB.3 has had its underside painted.

The MB.4 has had its second upper surface colour added.

There are loads of details to paint, the canopy frames of both aircraft and various paint mistakes to correct, as well as to add the wheels, a few corrections to make and varnish and give the aircraft a wash and weathering. All in one day  :-\ I will leave off the small detail parts for now, and will finish both aircraft properly later, but for now, I will just get them ready enough to show on a table about four feet away from anyone.

Both looking very good sir

So the MB 4 in SEAC coloursinstead of Thunderbolts ? Might confuse some

Quote from: PR19_Kit on April 16, 2026, 03:19:47 AMIn my experience Hataka colours cover pretty well, but I only use the Blue Line ones for brush painting. One or two of them cover in one coat, but usually they need a couple, and you can do that in an hour,

Same here Kit. The couple of Red Line sets I've got (Polish and Dutch) normally need 3 coats for the lighter shades, but sometimes I can get away with 2 for the darker ones.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Close, but you have missed the hook under the tail, along with the Sky undersides.

Possibly the last photos for now, decals are on, and the exhausts and spinner have been glued onto the MB.3. There is still some detail painting and touch-ups to do, as well as varnish, and then give both models a wash.

I am really happy about the way the MB.3 looks, the MB.4 is quite nice as well, but I feel that I could have done better.

Ere mister, are those Mustang prototypes?

They both look bloody lovely if you ask me, wonderful work.
Perfect is the enemy of Finished. I presume. I've never achieved either.

kerick

Look great to me. The radial engine on an MB5 type is Ming blowing.

A Mustang with a radial engine would be wild!

Closest you'd get would be a T28 Trojan, because it's basically a two seater 'stang with a radial and a tricycle u/c.  Think there was an Air Enthusiast article on it's development.

Hmmm.  Matchbox Tempest II front end on any P51 kit?

It would have to be something better looking than your typical Pratt and Whitney.

Obviously  :banghead:  :banghead:

I like the MB 4 in particular but then I'm a sucker for BPF/SEAC types. The thing that throws me with the MB.3 is the length of the cannon barrels.

Yes, they are quite long. [/inuendo] I am surprised by how far back the pilot is sitting.
