That escalated... Barely recognisable as a Marder, similar to what happened to the Bulldog conversion of the FV.432, only with more bang.

Escalated should be my second bloody name Mossie ...it's like i don't think i could build a model OTB without modifying it  anymore .
Hell you saw what happened here ,,that's a prefect example .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

That's why we build whiffs, regular models are just not a challenge anymore.

That i totally agree which ,,no matter what i build it's easy ,,the challenge now for me at least is not getting bored building it ..it's either going to be next week or the week after but i'm getting the Hobbyboss DORA rail gun in 72nd scale ,,thats a huge model and that i'm sure will be OTB from the get go but as time goes on its possible even something that huge will end up on tracks and also when you consider the fact that this is a $213 nz dollar model and the fact i will hack it up at some stage so how hard it is for me now .

For me it's not the challenge.  It's never been the challenge.  I can't quite put it precisely in words but It's about not following the rules, not doing what I am supposed to do, being different for the sake of it.

ABSOLUTELY!

Why be bothered will all those 'instructions' and stuff when your brain keeps on coming up with lovely ideas with what to do with all that dreamy plastic? Just go for it and put them together YOUR way!  ;)

The Marder has a pleasing shape and just works as a light tank.

Just like the Argentinian TAM tank but mines got a much better turret and armour
Ok since it was xmas day yesterday i had a play with the painting on this ..i've hit it with 3 random Tamiya spray can colours ,,dark sand,,olive drab and medium gray ,,these are base colours ,,the masking will cover quite a bit of this and then the top colour will cover it all ,,what ever that's going to be i've zero idea at this point  and i'm in no rush cause this masking is going to take a long minute thats for sure because for some reason i made this more difficult for myself

Argentina also has an IFV to go with the TAM called the VCTP. It's essentially a simplified Marder, with the conventional 20mm turret from the Luchs armoured car. Should be relatively easy to kitbash one from a Marder and a Luchs (certainly is in 1/72nd scale). As for a user, well you could easily see an export customer for the Marder either baulking at the price tag and going for the simpler turret as a cheaper option, or taking a dislike to the standard Marder's oddball turret design and wanting a more conventional one.

One backstory I imagined was the UK and Germany doing a big arms deal, whereby Germany adopts the CVR(T) series as replacements for it's Hotchkiss carriers and doesn't build the Luchs at all, while the UK adopts conventional-turret Marders instead of the Warrior and German engines for the Chieftain.

Looks like this one never got painted. I wonder what's happening with the rest of Phill's builds?
