Well it's a long, straight box with no obvious front and rear, unless you  stick your head in front of it to look down the tubes, which is probably not advised.

Quote from: Old Wombat on December 20, 2025, 05:42:43 AMIt's written on LAW rockets & several other man-portable missile/rocket systems.

Not all soldiers are entirely competent, plus many of these systems are designed for general distribution to un/semi-trained civilians in dire emergencies.

The FRONT TOWARDS ENEMY keeps the semi-literate soldiers alive. The critical one is the blast angle and range at the rear...

Not new... the venerable and still very capable Claymore mine had it

During my service, we had a famil on these. Part of that was how it curved, so that in the dark you could feel the curve and the place in the right orientation.
I put it down as a "good to know" type thing, considering with what branch I served in the chance of ever using them was fairly small.

I take it to mean (this is the) FRONT.  (point it) TOWARD (the) ENEMY.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Correct.

Don't get that wrong...  ;)

There's a huggable plushie version on Ali Express where it says "Front - Towards Friend"...  Awww...

I've had on a couple of occasions try to deploy a M72 only to find the front site didn't pop up with you pulled the tubes apart ,, now if you didn't know what you wer doing with one of these that could lead to a quite annoying situation for everybody concerned  ;D
A very simple way to remember which way is which on the M72 LAW ( Light Anti Amour ) rocket is this ,,the fat tube goes to the front ,,the thin tube goes over your shoulder .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

I'm going to call this one done. I could continue adding to it, but this is a good stopping point. I added a Ukrainian flag (for ID). It's made from a lens cleaning paper. I was hoping it would develop folds like a real cloth flag, but alas, it didn't. It's not glued to the vehicle. I added a seat for a third soldier and some random electronics boxes for the missile. I also made a tube for extra missiles, as seen here:

It appears that the HMMWVs supplied to Ukraine have a drop in pallet with the launcher and pedestal attached. Since I'm assuming this is a spare old HMMWV modified as a drone hunter, I didn't add the pallet module(I also didn't find this image until the pedestal had been glued in place...)

The antenna is pretty long. I 3D printed the antenna mount a while ago:

The kill marks show several Shahed (Geran-2) kamikaze drones, a Forpost (IAI Searcher) recon drone and an Orlan-10 recon drone. I don't know if this system could shoot down all of these types, but apparently it has been used to shoot down Shaheds:

With a Ukrainian SOP soldier, for scale.

Thanks for following along!

Another knock out Frank ,, this is very cool
Next one ya gotta build is a pure wiff with a ten shot launcher mounted on the back end of very heavy Humvee ..still tho even a ten shot system wouldn't weight that much really and a Humvee would be able to handle it anyway .

That looks excellent Frank, and very topical too.

Works for me... I like the way it just looks like what it looks like.. a couple of bits put together to do a job.

Nice work.
