Though the wings are weirding me out a bit ...

Just a rough mock up at this stage. I'm not sure about the Spitfire tips on the wings, I may leave them off and stick with the squared off tips

That's a tough call. It looks good with the tips, but maybe a bit too Spitfire ?

With those curved tips they look as if they came from a Hurricane!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

My thoughts as well Kit. It reminds me of a real world prototype/project. Could be French but didn't the Yugoslavs have a project similar to the Hurricane ? Icarus or something ? Or am I still getting over the Palace result
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

They did indeed, the Rogožarski IK-3, which looks JUST like a Hurricane.

Bizarrely 90% of the pics of an IK-3 on the Net are of models! I can't find a single one of the RW version that shows the wing shape! Both Azur and AZ do kits of it.

Hmmmmm, how about one in RAF colours, everyone would figure it WAS a Hurricane!  ;D  ;)

That's the one I was thinking of, thanks Kit

A little more progress on the Spitattacker side of things:

As you can see I have added a tube to block up the jet pipe opening and added a little extra to the wings. Still debating whether to scratch build a tub for the cockpit, as even a basic box with a pilot figure and seat would be better than the existing moulded head and shoulders

Nope, getting tiny thumbnail images, again.  :o

I think this is happening because I was using my phone to do the post, rather than my lap top. I will try editing the post on my laptop later

I decided to bite the bullet and scratch up a basic cockpit tub, so cue the plastic card and frantic rummaging through the spares box for useful bits and bobs - where did I stash that spare ejector seat :banghead:  :banghead:

OK - a little update on this project. I decided to install a resin cockpit in the Spitfire as the PM model has absolutely nothing, not even a rudimentary seat or pilot figure.

Well of course that turned it into a much bigger task than originally envisaged, but after much wrestling, filing, cussing and sanding and mor cussing, it was finally installed and the fuselage halves joined [forced], albeit with a very large gap on the underside which needed to be filled with plastic card and filled with filler. Still,  as I am not trying to build an actual Spitfire, I think it looks good enough, especially as I have moved the radiator from under the wing to under the fuselage. I also cut out the undercarriage bays in the bottom half of the wings.

The Spitattacker is now assembled. No wheel wells on this one, as PM supply a solid wing for the Spitfire, so I will have to make do with a painted suggestion of them. Still some filling to be done to lose the mounting slot for the radiator on the Spitfire wing.
