The middle pic on the right is the old store that was basically a shack on the beach. I was stationed in Hawaii in 87-91 and we went there often. They have an all new store now and still great.
We overlapped, I lived on O'ahu from May '90 to the end of August '95.

My reserve squadron wrangled an annual tour for 2 weeks in 2006 and I've been back on vacation a couple of times. I'd live there in a heartbeat if I could afford it.

A few times  ;)

First stayed in Wakiki in 1982, met a couple of US tourists, one a retired USAF pilot, and went back a few times to meet up. Eventually spent a couple of holidays with them in a villa on North Shore. Am still firm friends with them, Geoff died a few years ago), visit them in LA.  Have seen their daughter grow from 4 to have a 6 year old of her own  ;D

It's probably too far to fly nowadays, takes over 24 hours from London, and I'm getting on  . Last time I went was on a cruise

The place has changed a lot.
I think I've been to the Arizona Memorial about six times.

I keep thinking about one scene from "The Spy Who Loved Me" when James Bond lays a map over the chart of the British nuclear submarine. So wrong kind of Tracked, but that's how my brain works.

Always made sure I visited the Arizona Memorial when I was there, pay my respects.

One of the guys from my reserve squadron reenlisted there one morning. It was awesome.

Some more progress- bits just taped together.  The deck turret either needs to be ground  down to lower it and fit the deck, or cut a round hole in the deck so it can rotate.  The Dynamite Guns will just be represented by hatches and a USS OLympia style bow torpedo tube needs to be fabricated. Rudder and dive planes are just parts under consideration right now. Since I underestimated how big everything would be, it doesn't look like I need to lengthen the tracks. So two off scale T-90s to "do something with"...

It definitely has a between the wars look to it!

Some very interesting shapes there. I say, "Carry on"!

Thank you all! I like the way it is coming together.

Some progress. I like the North Korean green paint, but the spray can of Rustoleum is taking a long time to dry.  The stern is sitting a little high on land so I will probably cut off some out of sight track to level it out.  The conning tower is a little off center but will not be corrected at this point.  There must be sound mechanical reason for that...

Took the opposite approach and raised the front of the tracks. Trimming them down a little should eliminate the Soviet Slava class missile cruiser look to the track housings...  I'm having fun with this at least.
