2006 Dodge Charger - Gotham City Police Department Pursuit Car.

Back in 2010 I had an AMT 1997 Pontiac Firebird I didn't know what to do with.  I built it as a GCPD cop car using the transfers and cop specific parts from the AMT Gotham City Police Car/Joker's Goon Car (78 Dodge Monaco - also boxed as Rosco's Sherrifs Car & TJ Hooker Patrol Car).  Since then i've added a '65 Chevrolet Interceptor, a '57 Ford Dog Squad Panel Van, and now an '06 Dodge Pursuit Car.

In "Real Life" GCPD cars were most often blue and white but sometimes black and white.  In my Gotham City they are Brunswick Green and White.

Kit is by Lindberg.  They put out a heap of different versions of the Charger cop car including this undecorated version with vanilla "POLICE" transfers and eight different light bars.

It's built OOB although the choice of optional parts I used is not one shown on the destructions.  It has a full detailed (Hemi) engine ,and the bonnet opens, but I forgot to take photos.
Paint is SMS laquer.  Clear is rattle can acrylic clear.  I have discovered that if I sit the can in boiled water straight out of the kettle for the length of time it takes to boil again from cold then although the can is almost too hot to hold I get a very nice smooth and glossy clear coat.
Transfers are home made using scans of AMT's GCPD shields.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Nice addition to the collection, Fred!

Do you have any more planned, or are they "spur of the moment" builds?

Thanks Womby.

Well, I don't buy kits thinking "that'll make a good Batman cop car".  I actually bought this one to get the eight light bars for use when building tow trucks.  I've built one of them in the ten(ish)  years i've had this.  I was rearranging the "Dodge Charger" corner of the stash (no joke) when inspiration hit.
I do have a '48 Ford Coupe kit which is actually meant to be a cop car.  I might stick some tuning parts on the flathead V8 and make it an Interceptor but it is more fun making a cop car out of something that wasn't meant to be one.

'....almost too hot to hold.....'?  :-\

So how DO you hold it?

The Charger looks the BUSINESS, I can almost hear it.   ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thanks Kit.

If I leave it in a little too long I wear nitrile gloves.  If it IS ACTUALLY too hot to hold I let it cool as its then possibly a little prone to going pop...

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

You build enemy tanks don't you Phill?  Just think of cop cars as enemy cars...
