Things keep moving ahead, with caution but a plan! Painting started after the "hair explosion" had dried over night. Work started with thorough cleaning to get rid of sanding residues, and the whole affaor received a basic coat with a mix of pink and wine red (Humbrol 200 and Revell 361, first pic), and while still wet I added shading with Humbrol 200 over that base, more or less strirred up to receive varying shades/brightness degrees, plus a final light reflex "halo" with pure pigments (following 2 front and back pics).

Looks wild, a bit as if someone attached octopi to the head (Cthulhu-esque,maybe?), but the overall impression of the plastic locks and the proper color now is very good so far.
This has to dry now, and then I might add some white highlights to the halo and will paint the headbands - which are insofar odd as they are "handed", like position lights (one is pale green while the other is very light pink). This will make the hair look much more proper, and I light add further depth with a light black ink washing to the hairdo.

Thank you. I had and have doubts, but if you find that this "mess" looks good I am somewhat relieved...

With pink hair, too?  ;D  BTW, it's the anime/manga equivalent to blonde, and it generally signals ...difficult characters. ;)

After completing the hair the painting of the hairbands/sensors follows - as an odd/unique detail they are painted differently, like position lights: pale pink (red) at  "port" and light green at starboard. Starts to look like an intentional hair style...

Good news: wrapped things up so far that I was able to apply varnish to the major modules. The head and the hair will be matt, while the rest of the suit will become semi-matt - the illustrations of Kotone suggest that her plugsuit is not matt (like uncoated neoprene), but is somewhat shiny, due to some light reflexes in various pictures/screenshots. Hope that there will be no paint reaction, though, and I am really curious how the completed figure (also without the paper visor over the face) finally looks like? Always a great moment, esp. on a conversion like this.  ;D

Hair is looking good!

However, if you can, I'd do the hair in a semi-gloss or satin, as the oils in it make hair a bit shinier than skin.

I know what you mean, and this decision is never easy on such a figure which in itself is not "realistic", rather a 3D representation of a virtual screen character. I went for matt because shiny/glossy hair looks very out-of-scale and like plastic on such figures - therefor the light reflex halo was added to the hair. The glossier suit is a gamble, but on the relatively dark underground the "real" light reflexes should be well visible. I just hope that the suit does not look too shiny.

Just about sums her up  ;D

First photo session finished and I am already selecting and editing pics. I will also make some experiments with AI-supported editing and picture generation based on the shots, we'll see what it yields?

Very good news: photo editing makes huge progress, I even added a second shooting (a few initial shots were not good due to light and/or perspective) and used the pics to modify them further with AI or use them as inspirational basis for generative artwork. Interesting adventure, and lots of output.
