Sounds logical, and Keeping Gondor Healthy-Compliant, which is also good.

I did nothing over the weekend other than plan and buy bits. I had taken one of the metal strips to the workshop I know, and they made a modification for me, only for me to find out this evening that I need to enlarge one of the holes so that the final bolt will go through its hole. I had also picked up the membrane to line the inside of the cabinet with. I have some double-sided tape that is designed for use with carpets, and some good old duct tape. The double-sided tape will hold the membrane to the sides and top, while the duct tape will be used to cover up any joints between surfaces. I also liberated some 6mm P clips from work to fix the wiring for the internal light. I think that screwing the clips through the membrane will be better than hammering in the normal clips.

I managed to get my donkey in gear today and to do some work by cutting the hole for the extraction system.

As you can see from the picture above, I started out with a paper template. The idea was to drill holes at the four main cardinal points and then use my jigsaw to finish cutting the hole out. No such luck, as the position of the hole is too near the back and bottom of the cabinet for me to get the jigsaw in. So, alternative plan was to start chain drilling around the hole so that I could then join the dots as it were. Holes drilled, no saw  :banghead:  :banghead: Went online and ordered one from Screwfix, I pick it up tomorrow and make more of a mess than I did today. It's a good job I have so many other tools available, such as a set of files to help open up the hole and get rid of all the rough edges.
Once the hole is complete. That sounds odd. How can you complete something by taking something away? It just sounds so wrong, but then again, that's the English language. Anyway, once I have finished making the hole, I can start to line the inside with the membrane. This order allows me to have the membrane go through the hole. Sealant will also be used around the start of the ducting on the inside of the cabinet so that it seals onto the inside of the build area, rather than directly onto the cabinet.
There is space around the hole for the rest of the fixture, and space for the extension cable to go either up behind the exhaust or under it, I have options.

I find it fascinating and most informative to see "build in progress" pictures,  whether 3D printer installations, 1/35 scale armour  or even 1/144 scale Snodgrass-Arbuthnot  sesquiplanes.

I aim to please.

I am of the opinion, that, for several reasons, if I write it down, I should be able to find it later if I need to look back at my previous work, of whatever kind. I also hope that what I do, have done, and may do, might be a possible solution to someone with a problem. If this is the case, then it is a good reason to have one's past catch up with them.

A small update, as my mojo has been lacking.

Not much has changed since the last picture. I have added brackets to strengthen the joint at the top of the space. I used masking tape to hold them in place while I drilled pilot holes and then used my electric screwdriver to fit screws. Looking at the brackets I fitted lower down, I need to fit more screws. Not today, my back hurts from the unfamiliar posture I have to get into to do the work, and the screwdriver needs a recharge.

The black ribbon trailing around the bottom of the cabinet is a strip I cut from the membrane. It's a little bit longer than I expected.  :-\
This will cause some fun and games trying to fit this. I have not added any double-sided tape yet. Need to fit the other screws into the brackets first, then decide how I am going to fit the membrane. I am going to have to perform some serious thinking and planning about the membrane. I will probably end up sketching out some very rough drawings to aid in the fitting of it. I am thinking, back and top first, then the sides, possibly hospital corners to tuck the excess material where the material transitions from the top to the sides and to simply use Duct tape and a section of the offcut to cover the hole where the extension lead enters the cabinet. Duct tape would also be used to stick the edges to the cabinet.

This is starting to sound like a plan.

Plans are good.

Though, always remember - "No Battle Plan survives first contact with the Enemy"...

And 'Measure Twice, Cut Once.'

But you already knew all that, so I'll go back to lurking and cheering you on.

I have been putting in some of the screws I forgot about yesterday. My back was starting to complain, and the electric screwdriver is charging slowly, too slowly, as I would like to just get the last screws in so I can clean up and plan which section of the lining is going to be installed first, this determines how I apply the double-sided tape.
I have decided that the lining will be done in panels. Several of the panels will overlap rather than trying to apply Duct tape into the corners, which is way too difficult. The amount of liner I have is way more than I will ever need, so there is no problem if I make a mess of a section. I will simply cut another section and try again.

Yup, and every job needs a bit of looking at and planning before you start.

Nothing happening tonight. On the way home from a hospital appointment, I bought a new roll of double-sided tape to make sure that I have enough for the job. So I got home to be greeted by my often wayward cat. At least two weeks since I last saw him. He has no scratches or lumps of fur missing, and he still has his collar on. So, I spent the first part of the evening reclining on the sofa with him curled up on me. I need to hoover out the cabinet, but I am not going to disturb Spot, the cat, as it's been so long since I last saw him.
He is called Spot as he is roughly the same shade of grey as tarmac.

Good and bad news.
The bad news is also the good news, as Spot has not been seen since he went out about midnight last night, so I was able to get the hoover out and get debris removed from the cabinet. I have also used an old silver ink pen to roughly mark where the edges of the membrane will go. Tomorrow I will start putting up the double-sided tape. I am also looking at using the offcut I have to form a sort of patch around the hinge assembly, which will sit under the main sheet of membrane. I will take pictures to show what I mean as I fit the various parts.

A little bit of work done.

The basic tape is up. Next, when I have more motivation, I will start cutting the membrane to suit. The top part first, then the back, followed by the sides. After those sections are fitted, I will add a sheet of membrane to the floor.

Captain Canada

I had no idea they'd be that much work ! I thought you just plugged them in and go lol. I thought all of the work would be figuring out the programming etc.

I am being rather careful with making the area I will be doing the printing in extra fume-proof. As usual, I am over-engineering everything.
