Mossie

Quote from: Weaver on Yesterday at 02:48:15 PMWhoa, that was a catch Mossie!

Nice isn't it? Round 2 re-popped it about 10 years ago and I picked one up at Telford and got the etch set later. It comes with two nose cones, the clear set are missing as I gifted them to a friend who immediately coveted them when I opened the box!

I started it, putting some of the tanks together and painted the base but got no further.

For what it's worth, if I was a Mod it would be eligible.

I would love to see such a build in progress and finished.

I've come into possession of a large number of aircraft wheels of different sizes and scales. Plus some cylinders and other shapes of PS plastic. If I make good progress on the home renovations I just might be able to start building something interesting by August! I'm thinking about some sort of rover, either moon or Mars or whatever.

From what I have been reading there seems to be a lot of idea switching between the USA and the former USSR or if we can't get this to work maybe they can.

There's currently exactly one on Ebay, for £75, in Ireland, plus five of the PE sets, all £30+ and none in the UK.

Rubber tires can't handle the temperature differences on the Moon, hence the "wire cage" types used on the real moon buggies. Mind you, in a small scale, you wouldn't really be able to tell the construction of the tires, so the thing to do would be to choose fat, lightly-treaded aircraft wheels/tires and then paint the tires silver-grey or some such not-black colour to signify that you're aware of the issue.

Hmm, I wonder what the manufacturer's recommended tyre pressures are for them?  ;)

Perhaps they have to be higher for the rear tyres when they've loaded all the Moon rock samples?
