doing my due diligence, I find that traditional feluccas are made of either cedar, pine, or accacia ... cedar is almost the same colour as what Humbrol calls ''oak'' - a very light, almost yellow-ish hue.  Pine is white, and acacia is a streaky brown to grey ... so, of course, having a tin of Humbrol Oak I'm going to go with Acacia-esque, - if I can manage to do it.  :)

Most boats are painted these days, of course ... and ironically, so will this one - to look unpainted!  :D

Well, poop.  I shouldda known, but forever optimistic, right?  The port runner snapped off.  It was only ever held in place by a very tiny plastic pin in the end of the support arm of the helicopter skid, cleverly glued into a sweep port - for those who don't know, a sweep is a huge oar, as from a Roman galley (see below), now only usually seen at regattas at places like Henley on Thames.  The sweep port is the hole in the side of the boat that allows the sweep to be swept ... or something.

I was so chuffed that the helicopter skids fit right into the sweep ports that I completely disregarded the weakness of that joint.  Now, of course, the pin has broken off into the port, leaving me with a butt joint at best - and we all know how strong those aren't.

Now I gotta remove both runners, drill out the ports, and start over with something new ...  :-\  :-\

My solution was to take two flat, thick strips of a suitable width.  I then used a Swiss file to put a square notch in the ends, wide enough to straddle the struts, and glue them to the underside of the hull and the inside of the struts, so each of the four struts is now supported and super-glued.  So far it's working ...

And, I'm done.  Enough cannons added for self-defense - two aft on the quarter-deck, and two on the fore-deck.  Brown and black ink washes added - not very successful, but hey - how dirty is ice gonna be?  I could wish for crew figures, but that small a scale?  Not likely!

I know, I know - for an ice rigger there's not a lot of ice & snow ... I couldn't figure out how to do it.  I guess if I wanted to spend a millennia spraying brine I might eventually build up a rime, but - whose got that kinda time?

I don't do rigging - not with these arthritic fingers and well-worn Mk. 1 Eyeballs, anyway.  :)

Ignore the St. Elmo's Fire from the camera's flash on my plastic back-drop.  ;)

That looks very good, and as for the St Elmo's Fire ? It adds something to the scene as far as I'm concerned

I agree with Brother Narses!  It looks good, and St Elmo's guest appearance adds to the overall effect.
