I once saw flying machines on a daily basis...

...Then I retired. It was fun while it lasted, except for a few that fly by at odd hours, I don't see them very often anymore. We had a couple of F-4G drone controllers that used to drop in on occasion, I heard they were finally shot down. We had B-1Bs for a while, they were cool but got replaced with E-8C J-Stars, then they sent them to the boneyard. But I saw these every day for nearly 24 years:

Very cool. I like the mix of old and new Hercs. The Galaxy stripped of paint is neat to see as well. Looks like tails from everywhere ! What base is this ?

G'day Uberdave.  Did you ever find yourself yearning for a colour other than grey?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

For a moment I was confused at how the wings were at different angles on the Hercs and wondered if those were carrier-based versions with folding wings.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

That'd have 'NAVY' written on them of they were surely?  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I still do see flying machines on a daily basis.  During the week, it's the Special Forces helicopters every day and most days Texan and Hawk trainers  with the occasional A400M thrown in. Weekends it's light aircraft from the local airfield at Shobdon and infestations of what an elderly neighbour refers to as " those bl**dy  microflyer things"    The building of which Chateau Rheged forms a part is an unusual shape and  apparently used as a waymarker by most aviators, as you will see from the reference below

It's MASSIVE!

In the interests of accuracy, I must admit that  we only have the section furthest from the main road!

What would that have been used for in the Workhouse days, the Masters house or hospital ward?

Master's house.  We have high ceilings and fireplaces;  the pauper inmates would have had neither.    The building is 1837, grade 2 listed and extremely solidly built. At one point, it became rural district council offices. After that, it was converted into housing. Some parts (including ours) were sold to private owners, others were rented out as social housing.  All in all, it's a very pleasant little community.

Or MARINES.  Or USAF as the USN have transported said organization's aircraft while the pilots enjoyed the comforts of a cruise at sea.
