Here's number 4 lads 😉

The British Conqueror based FV 216B (183) tank destroyer...a bad idea if there ever was one 😳.
Hugely heavy with a stupidly large gun of a 183mm and proposed at a time when AT missiles were really starting to come of age .
This will be a OTB build so it's gonna be quite fast and it's going to be easy 😌

I'll post the start pics and such when it stops raining  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Having seen a Conqueror a few times, it'll also be BIG!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

That's no tank destroyer.  It's a Death Star.

Well like I said..easy ..it's 85% built now ..entire lower hull is done ..tracks are click together individual links and go together pretty damn quickly.
I'll finish the turret tomorrow probably and the tracks and I'll post pics of it with a Conqueror tank and the proposed Badger assault gun ..another Conqueror based vehicle   :o

Done the AA version as well. Looks better than the Amusing jobbies, the detail is crisper, IMHO.

There's no such thing as a gun that's too big  ;) Anyway I'd dispute the second half of that sentence. Were AT missiles starting to come of age then ? Were they actually usable in a scenario where the Soviets launched a massive tank attack ? A lot of the footage I've seen they look very clumsy to handle and use  even when no one is shooting at you.

The AA one I scored for $40 nz ..it was already built and not very well to be honest..it needs it's tracks replaced but I'm gonna try and see if they can be torn apart and cleaned up and rebuilt ..also the turret needs work as it doesn't sit in the hull very well at all ...but still ..very yummy 😋 😋 😆

Oh don't get me wrong matey ..I love a big gun on a tracked chassis 😁
The thing about the 183 mm Tank, L4 Gun was definitely powerful ..extremely powerful but 😆
It's accuracy past 2000 mtrs was very bad ..the size and weight of the rds made em extremely difficult to use..the projectile alone was nearly 800mm long..the shell nearly 700mm
Here's some stats I just nicked from the Tank Museum.
The projectile weighed 145lb (65.8kg) and was 29 ¾" (76cm) long. The case, containing the propellant, added 67.75lb (30.7kg) and 26.85" (68cm) ..yet for all its size and power it could only penetrant 150mm ( 6ins) of armour at 2000 yards.. a little while later the British L7 105mm guns could penetrant more armour at 1000 mtrs with later versions able to penetrant over 500mm or armour at 2kms .
Mean while the ATGM crowd were quite busy ..in the early 50s the French brought out the Nord SS10 ..the russians brought out the At3 Sagger .
Yep the range wasn't that great.only being about 500mtrs to 1500 mtrs  but the armour penetration spoke for itself with the Nord punching 300mm and the Sagger at 420mm ..didn't take much time at all..couple of yrs in fact for these missiles to be able to kill armoured vehicles at 3000 mtrs and punch through 500mm of armour .
During my wee hunting session I did find something very cool 😎
The FV 4005 turret on a Conqueror chassis proposal 😁😁😁
Chris mate..im really like that 😂
Looks like I'm gonna have to do some serious scratch building at some point 👉 👈 😳😏

Well the speedy build tracks has taken a bit of a slow down ..these don't click together as much as break the pins so the tracks won't stay together.
To fix this issue I'm drilling out every pin with a .5mm drill and pinning em with half mil brass wire ...so far so good 👍
One top run of tracks is done ..only 3 more to go

Cheers for that info sir   The L4 gun's lack of penetration really surprises me, you'd of thought , but then ?  Must admit I was trying to work out how the poor so and so's in the turret would go about loading something that big.
