I think I'm having too much fun with these X-29 kits. The Hasegawa kit is a small and relatively easy kit to put together with not many parts.
Almost wish I had a few more of these kits as there's a few other concepts I'd like to build.
Bad thing about the X-29 kit is that it's such a small aircraft, that there's not much you can put on it for armament choices.
Missiles like Sidewinder and/or Sparrow/AMRAAM are the most obvious/used weapons that I've seen on other models.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.

This thread ain't done yet.
Currently adding modifications to the X-29 Shinden.
Also waiting for the postman to deliver a Hasegawa 1/72 scale J7W Shinden that I ordered a few days ago.
More pics and information maybe tomorrow.

Nicely done.

I agree she looks better 'clean', sans missiles.

Sorry to disappoint everybody who thought the X-29 looked better without armament.
I added missiles yesterday. Why?
While I'm STILL waiting for the postman to deliver a Hasegawa 1/72 scale J7W Shinden (I hope), I decided to take out of storage my 1/72 scale X-29 that I painted in retro Japanese WWII J7W Shinden colors and make some modifications to it by adding wingtip missile launch rails and also painting AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles. Since the J7W Shinden has 30 mm guns for armament, I might as well add SOME armament to my X-29 Shinden as well. Would have been nice if I could have changed the nose of the X-29 and swapped in a nose from an F-5 aircraft instead that had the 20 mm guns. But I never thought of it when I was building the X-29 long ago. Too late now.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

My Hasegawa 1/72 scale Kyushu J7W Shinden just got delivered today.
So I'll be starting it tomorrow if I can.
My J7W and the X-29 will be together on a special display base (which I still have to buy/build).

Work is proceeding moderately well on my Hasegawa 1/72 scale J7W Shinden model. But because it's 1/72 scale which is a scale I don't like working with due to my limited eyesight, don't expect the detailing to be that great, particuarly inside the cockpit.
Another pic below shows the size comparison of the J7W Shinden next to my 1/72 scale X-29 (Shinden II).
If anybody buys and builds this aircraft in the future, make sure you add weight in the nose. The J7W is a tail sitter. Thankfully, I did not forget to add weight. ;)

The J7W Shinden has been painted.
Still to finish is the decals, canopy, and adding two other small parts.
Below is a sample pic.

Only thing left to finish on the J7W Shinden is the canopy.
I went and bought a simple wood base for the aircraft and stained it a light color. Also bought some Japanese flag patches as well to put on the base under each aircraft. Eventually, I'll also get some name plaques made for each aircraft and put those under the patches as well. There's still a lot of "empty" wood space around the aircraft, so I'm not sure what else to put on the base, if anything, to fill up that empty space.
There are two options for displaying the aircraft:
Option 1: Have them both pointing in the same direction with the nose pointing in the lower right.
Option 2: Have each aircraft slightly pointing toward each other.
I haven't decided which option I'll go with yet.

I like option when aircrafts are slightly pointing toward each other..........

I'm calling this done for now.
Canopy has been painted and installed on the J7W Shinden aircraft on the left.
Only thing left to do is get two nameplates to add to the display base for each aircraft.
They'll be put underneath each flag patch.
The name plaque under the left patch will say "Kyushu J7W1 Shinden" (or something similar).
The name plaque under the right patch will say "Mitsubishi F-29J Shinden II".
Not sure yet what color name plaques to get. Either gold colored, brass, silver, or something else?

They both came out great!

For the name plaques, maybe red letters on white, with a red (or white) border to reflect the flags?
