I wish there was the truck tractor version as that's what I believe they used. That would save a lot of trouble.

Oh ill bet there is a 35th scale version out there that is a tractor..it'll have the perfect wheel base ..perfect tyres..but ...it'll have the wrong hood..be totally resin and cost a butt load mate .
When we want the weird ones matey it's never that easy .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Weird can be difficult. And expensive! That's why my razor saw is never rusty. It's always in use.

My razor had a rest today...no major plastic cutting took place ...he's happy now ..until he's needed again  ;D

I finally got home and commenced some building to clear my head. I got out some Plastruc shapes from the former computer drawer under my desk to see what I had. Some 1/8th inch rod for the horizontal pipes and some H column for the verticals. A little 1/16th inch rod for the side pieces. I managed to drill some nicely aligned holes to keep things square. That little 4V rechargeable screwdriver I picked up a Wally World work just right. I lined it all up for squareness on the lines of the cutting pad to glue. Its now resting comfortably under the lacquer thinner can to keep it flat while the glue dries. I'll have to make a C channel part to attach it to the bumper. I also built the winch so this will stick out quite a bit from the front end. The front suspension will get worn out quickly.  I'll trim off the side rods tomorrow. I'll probably paint it NATO black to set off the sand color of the truck.

Square holes in round tube ..very nicely done bud 👍

Bang is right! This will be the lead vehicle in the convoy.

Pretty much what I have in mind for mine bud...im still probably going to extend the hull ..ive got more than enough 113s for that task 😆
Just trying to think of the back end ..the ramp will not be long enough to be able to get close to the ground and fold out steps will interfere with the rear door  ...this part will be a head scratcher for sure .

I'm hoping that the platform at the back will be able to hold the boarding ladder. I was thinking of using the tailgate end of the truck bed with the ladder stowed in a rack extended up from the tailgate to act as a railing when stowed. Of course I have to build the ladder now!

If I don't lengthen the 113s hull I could use a chunk of the flat deck from the truck it's self ..the 113 ain't that long really and with the full lenght chassis there's room to play with as the deck can be moved further back for more deck space .
If I go apocalyptic then it can be covered in bits..the deck with oil drums and the like .
Might even be able to loose the military tryes aswell ..that's worth looking at actually 👌

Well I looked Ken and yep I'm going to use non-military tyres and wheels on the Alabama Slammers close relative 😆
Those two Aoshima trucks my mate Cam gave me..well the huge pile of parts  anyway has a pile of wheels and tyres all know 32nd scale..they'll work out rather well I think 🤔

That sounds cool. The original Slammer pics showed it with civilian looking tires. The Army was going through tires like mad at that time with all the convoys on the roads. Plus things like uparmored HMMVs wearing out tires super fast. I know in BIAP our people were unloading C-130s full of tires constantly so not surprising some civilian truck stuff got mixed in when the military stuff ran low.
The super bull bars are done. There was a little twist to it when I glued them together but putting it on the desk with a weight on top overnight took that out. Some mounting channel and towing shackles finished that part. Now I've been chopping the front of the M113 hull. I cut away too much on the glacis plate and had to add a piece back and cut more carefully. Floor is looking good. The interior will be very visible so I'll have to make that look as good as the exterior. I think I have some diamond plate sheet plastic for the rear platform. I'll check that out today.

Those bullbars look sweet mate 👌
There going to look good on the Slammer.
Those civilian tyres on convoy escort trucks were also used and common on gun trucks in Vietnam  to.
They are better to drive with on tarseal roads than the military spec one..grip..noise and wear is also a thing too .
Oh and price I'll bet 😏 😉
One thing which is going to be cool is it's different..ive never built a rig like this that didn't use military tyres and wheels .
Bloody tempted to start playing with this now the ideas are flowing 🤔

Oh Ken ..can ya do me a favor..can ya measure the lenght of the front diff on your rig please...that will tell me the difference between yours and mine ..since mine is the Bigfoot..im wondering if there is any differences.

Do you mean the axle, right to left? Or distance from transfer case to differential? I'll take a look it might be hard to reach the differential by now.
