A few more greeblies and fiddly bits to go. I made a quick punch list and the most difficult part will be the weatherstripping around the windows. I already have a piece of half round painted. Maybe tonight. I'm thinking about where to hang a tow cable. But that's the wreckers job so maybe not.
I just thought of this. I could say the weathering powder is from Saudi Arabia and see how many people start scratching their heads.

When the 50th MSB did their GAC from Beuring to Speicher, all of our trucks had tow ropes.  As both a means to get unstuck and drag a damaged comrade out of the danger zone.  And when the 227 ASOS started receiving their up-armored JTAC 1165 humvees (with winch), the recovery kits all came with 20k rated snatch straps.  So hang the tow cable.

I'm thinking you're thinking of the black running from the ladder to the door of the M113 hull. I'm trying to replicate the worn anti slip material. The surface color rubs off then the metal starts to show through. Not sure if it looks ok.

I have plenty of choices for tow cable from tank size to the M113 leftovers. I even have some appropriate sized string.

Trying to fit some chains to the front end. It needs a cable and hook for the winch.

I've managed to paint the hook and chain a rust color. Now I need some heavy thread to complete the cable for the winch.
I got distracted and I've nearly completed making a trailer out of the remaining 2/3 of the truck bed. I found some old leaf springs from what I think was a German truck kit. Springs and wheels were the only parts left. They worked out perfectly. Frame is square tubing with various fiddly bits from the junk box.

I removed the wheels and axle for painting. No way would I be able to mask around that.







There will be a spare tire and jerry cans on the front.
A few more bits on the slammer to go.
