Nice to know; now if I could only remember what I said...   ;)

The Canopies are worth the trouble, just saying. They really do let you see more of what's in there... there again, if the kit canopy is a good'un, it can be easier to use that... *shrug*
We were chatting about those 3D printed props and you said but im not quoting ya here but you kinda said that these props will work until the plans might possibly change again ..or something like that  ;D
It's a pretty accurate comment really considering how many times the plans have changed already
And yep ...they changed again  :banghead:

So, BAU then...  ;D

Quote from: Wardukw on July 07, 2025, 03:57:19 PMBut yeah ,,the Mk3 is just another version of the  Challenger 1

Sounds like they're getting back into the same confusing sub-type nomenclature they inflicted on the world with the Centurions... which would be consistent, if nothing else...

This is the "Vintage Treasure Edition". The moulds have been cleaned up, Quite a few 3D parts have been added and the instructions have been re-done. Looks good.

Thinking in terms of possibly making an anti-tank version of it armed with a 50mm at gun ? Maybe a single seater ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That makes sense: kind of FW's competitor to the Hs 129, if they didn't opt for an Fw 189 variant as in real life.

On the way home I picked up a children's toy which someone had left by the wheelie bins.
It's in the shape of a lorry with plastic clearish side panels that open revealing slots to put the model cars in. It's made of sturdy plastic with wheels and loads of stickers.
It could be used for storing paint pots like the ones that come with Airfix kits, if not it will be a base for a flatbed.

I know someone on this site who might, possibly, hunt you down & relieve you of this kit - Despite his homeland being England's oldest ally.  ;)

I guess i can say my love for the Blue Thunder helo is internationally known...
But i won't be hunting anyone down anymore, your kits are safe.. i've built my first kit as the real one and the second kit's in my stash waiting to become a military version of the "Special One". And there are the other 3 Gazelle kits, a Fujimi 1/48 and the 1/50 Heller kits that, although with a lot of work, can also be converted...
But i have to admit i'm still jealous, i've paid almost 150€ for two kits and you get one for free... :banghead:
The cheapest on ebay at the moment is120£+shipping so you're one lucky cat, no doubt.

Teemu and EBay orders arrived today !
Cheesy Academy knock off F-4s. The canopy has a slightly more realistic look tho. The Hercs are some 4D model. Decent enough to be background for my Ascension Island diorama. 3 of each.
The 3 pack of GWH kits were 112.00 CDN. Such good looking kits ! Now I have 4 Vulcans, and two each of the Victor and Valiant.
CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

50mm ?? ..not sure that would even get off the ground Chris..the HS-129 had much more powerful engines and even that wasn't happy .
The 50mm weighted over half a ton with a 2700mm barrel length 😳.
Now a 37mm would work with tungsten steel cored rounds ..the gun weights less than 300kgs complete .
I do like the single seat idea too..like a German Hornet  ;D

Not really:

Fw 187 A-0:
Engines: 2 × Junkers Jumo 210Ga V-12 producing 671hp each
Airframe weights:  Empty: 7,937lb, gross: 11,023lb

Hs 129 B-2:
Engines: 2 × Gnome-Rhône 14M-4/-5 radials producing 691hp each
Airframe weights:  Empty: 8,863lb, gross: 11,574lb

So the Hs 129 only had 40hp more than the Fw-187, for over 900lb more empty weight. The Hs 129 was always considered underpowered. In an ideal world it would have had 1500hp BMW 801s (there were plans), but the war situation meant they had to use the captured French engines as an expedient.

Yep that's true of course but when you take in the size of the 50mm gun ..it's really bad aerodynamics and you've got problems..the 1500hp Bemmer engines tho would have made it an entirely different ball game for the 187 for sure .
Now you can see what we just did Harold mate ?  ..we're gonna make Chris think about changing the 187's engines   ;D

The first prototypes were single seaters.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

PR19_Kit

Very smart looking as a single seater. You can see where the Fw 190 canopy design came from.............
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
