Quote from: seadude on June 14, 2025, 03:04:47 PMWent to my local model club's auction today and picked up the following for a total of $18.
Now I get to go through them tonight and find out what's missing if anything, what's been started, etc., etc.
Bidding on and buying other people's models is like a 50/50 crap shoot. You never know what you'll get when you open the box.  :banghead: l

Shooting crap is unfair, it can't shoot back.

Quote from: kerick on June 14, 2025, 09:05:32 PMI was at NIMCON 13 show today and scored a 1/72nd two seat Gripen and a Panda 1/35th MATV MRAP vehicle. Counting the brass the Panda kit has over 570 parts. Some are so tiny they will disappear in the glue I try to attach them with. Well over 100 pieces of brass. And it doesn't even have tracks!

I swear some of these kit designers are sadists

In my opinion, ALL model kit designers/manufacturers are sadists to some degree.

Quote from: George the Cat on Yesterday at 01:09:47 AMExcellent haul here. Whiffing the F102?

I don't know what I'd turn it into. But it'll be a long, long time before I build it, if I do. I've got so many other projects on my plate to do first.

As for the other kits............I took a look at them last night and noticed the following:
Revell A-10: Previous owner started to build and paint some parts. Looks like some ejection seat pieces may be missing.
Revell Sukhoi T-50: Decals are missing, but all sprue parts still sealed in bags. Possibly may build/paint this model into a proposed Chinese version.
F-102 kit: Nothing missing there.
F-15E Strike Eagle: No parts appear to be missing. But the previous owner started airbrushing priming the parts with light grey or white paint. Nothing appears to be assembled. The kit is very plain and basic. No armament included at all. And only Israeli decals too.
Soviet modern weapons: Nothing missing there. May use for the T-50 model.
Me-262A kit: Might possibly build/paint that into a WW2 Japanese version instead.
F-16A kit: Very plain and basic. About the same comments as for the F-15E. Some armament included, but not much.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Had an interesting surprise about an hour ago.  :o
A modeling friend on Facebook contacted me and asked to buy from me all the model kits I just recently bought from my local model club auction that I posted further above. And he wanted to pay me double ($36) what I originally paid ($18) for all of them.  :o
I might take him up on his offer, except for one thing...I'm keeping the Me-262, the Sukhoi T-50, and the Soviet weapons set. Anyway, I need to email him today and see what he says.

If he's after the other ones anyway, you could both win...

Interestingly, I read once that if you take a half empty tin of paint, chuck in a chunk of dry ice, then bang the lid on and run away it will explode everywhere after several seconds. Could be a quick way to redecorate?
