Quote from: HarryPhishnuts on December 17, 2025, 06:17:55 AMCouple of early Christmas presents. The Twogar I had ordered 3 months ago from a model shop in Poland but it then got caught up in all this tariff nonsense so it took the guy a while to figure out how to get it to me. It will be part of my Vietnam FAC collection.

The G.91 was my white elephant present at our local IPMS holiday meeting last night. Going to paint it up in the US Army scheme. I never knew the Army ever looked at the G91 (or that they were even allowed to 😜). It's almost like a what-if that was.

We class that as Project Cancelled  , the US Army also trialled a variant of the A-4 Skyhawk (with double main wheels), the F-5 Freedom Fighter and the AV-6 Kestral, sadly they were not able to adopt any for their own cloase air support role

Airfix 1/72nd Fairey Rotodyne (incomplete & therefore cheapish)

This is an older "rainbow skill levels" boxing so it doesn't seem to have the moulding problems of the current Vintage Classic one, which means I can get a buildable Rotodyne out of the two of them. As far as I can tell on a quick inspection (got to go out in a minute), the only thing wrong with it is that two blades have been snapped off one prop, so there's going to be a LOT of spare parts for another whiff too.

Just had a proper look at the two kits. It's the hinge pins on the rear door slide-bars that are snapped off on the Vintage Classics one, but they're good on the Rainbow Skill Levels one, so I now have 1.95 buildable Rotodynes. ;D   :drink:

Interestingly, this is the only example I've ever seen of an Airfix kit where the newest box is smaller than the older one.

The Wooksta!

I've got an early 70s one that's not much bigger than the kit sprues.  Do I win £5?

No, you just win a crisp high five, that will undoubtedly be worth more than £5 when I'm famous, IF you don't wash it off in the meantime...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Yeah, all those fiddly fins to glue on, and they don't locate very well either.
