The Wooksta!

For my money, it's still the best F.21 ever released.  And I either have or have built all the others in the scale.  I got my first one back in 1990, I still have it as I did it back then - I enjoyed it that much I haven't the heart to strip it and redo it.

Received into the Wombat Stash today;

1 x AMT/ERTL 1/72 B-52H Stratofortress - The Big Bad Buff! To be RAAF ca. 1970s/1980s (to 2590s ??  )

Many, many, many thanks to Brian (rickshaw), who contacted me last week re: this & gifted it to me!

I actually picked it up from Brian yesterday but had to find the opportunity to get it past SWMBO.  ;)

But you still have to hide it from her once in the Stash  :-X  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Quote from: Thorvic on November 09, 2025, 01:16:47 PMA modest haul this SMW.

Air graphics 1/72 Rapier set
MT Minatures 1/700 HMS Scott survey ship
MT Minatures 1/700 HMS Endurance 1982 version
Finemold 1/72 JMSDF Weapons set
Hasegawa 1/72 Mitsubushi F-1 (handy stock kit)
Trumpeter 1/700 HMS Queen Elizabeth Aircraft carrier  x 4 (why rest of haul was limited !  )

Started building one of these out of the box on Monday, goes together well, but need to be careful with the prepainted and decalled flight deck and lifts.

One thing i have discoverd is that the Merlin HM helicopters appear to be 1/600 scale rather than 1/700, and this seems to apply to the ones included in some of their Type 23 frigates too !

A finished Airkit Spitfire F.21.  Think it dates from around 2019.

You cannot view this attachment.

It's pretty much straight from the box, although I replaced the u/c and wheels with Eduard as the Airkit parts are a bit lacking here.  Also added a set of underwing slipper tanks, cloned from the Airkit parts in his Seafire F.17.

That was clever, it's a HUGE box!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Ah, yes! But I'm quite accomplished at this, having moved an Airfix 1/72 Vulcan, a 1/48 B25J, a 1/48 Boston Mk.III, a pair of 1/48 F-105s, a couple of 1/48 Bucc's, & several sizable 1/350 ships into the Wombat Stash over the years, plus some pretty big 1/35 AFV boxes.  ;)

I'm just chuffed by Brian's generosity!

Went to the IPMS Butch O'Hare model show down in Illinois yesterday. A modeling friend was visiting the show briefly and couldn't stay long. He was having bad luck not winning anything from the raffle with the tickets he had, so he gave them to me before he departed. Out of the 20 or so tickets he gave me, one one number was called. I got a 1/48 scale F-102 Delta Dagger kit. I have no use for it, so it'll go in my local model club's auction next year.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Nice wheels.
It has a fishlike feel about it.  Maybe paint it like a shark?

I finally got fed up with waiting for Red Roo Models to get more stock and this week bit the bullet ordering the Blackbird Models Avro Lincoln conversion set direct from the Blackbird Models in the UK.  It's on its way.  I already have the required Airfix Lancaster B.II kit (Thanks Womby) and yesterday received the Red Roo Models enhancement set (resin, clear resin, and cast brass parts).

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.
