Thanks, all.

It was a bit of fun.

Fred: I agree with not being absolutely sold on any of the 'spinning prop' options I've seen, but as it's a cartoony build anyway, I thought this method added to the effect.  :thumbsup:

Kit: they'd likely just turn me down, then take the idea and run with it... but if they ever do put one out, well... we know where it came from... ;)

So a quick update: one project finished, and progress made on a couple more;
one to the markings stage and another partway through it;
and a couple more needing the final push to actually get the markings on, which is all that's needed to finally finish them off... :rolleyes:

As well, more information being amassed for a couple of others.
It's amazing how you can find that something you have long ago salted away suddenly becomes pertinent and useful.  :thumbsup:

As long as a) You remember you have it and b) you can remember where it is  :angel:

Yeah, I wasn't going to mention those wrinkles...  ;D

And there is always the things you find while looking for something else!
If only I would find a chest of gold or something like that.

Which then lead you down an entirely different pathway until you forget what you initially started out looking for  :angel:

1/72 Blohm & Voss BV-395 fighter **what-if**

Late in WW2, the Allied Intelligence services were looking to collect as much advanced German equipment as they could, employing 'Flying Columns' to rove ahead of the advancing ground forces to acquire items of interest.
One of the aircraft they captured was an advanced Blohm and Voss design which was passed to the Americans and assigned to the U S Navy to evaluate its' possible use on Aircraft Carriers, due to the compact size.

At the time the model depicts, the armament had been removed and replaced with test equipment in the former armaments bay, linked to an instrument probe in one of the cannon positions.

It turned out not to be suitable for various reasons, but it was tested extensively and useful data was acquired.

***************************************
I was looking to do one of the RW/Napkinwaffe designs, but I didn't have access to the kit, so made something similar.

My model uses the fuselage from a Heller SAAB Tunnen, cut down in length and height, and the nose was reprofiled with card.

Dragon MiG-15 wings were cut partway along and pieces of shaped runner inserted, with the outboard parts given a bit of anhedral.

The fins are the Tunnen horizontal tail surfaces separated and narrowed a bit in chord.

The canopy was missing, so I used one from a Pioneer 2 Sukhoi Su-21F Flagon.

Landing gear is the Tunnen's.

Marked as a US Navy test aircraft out of Patuxent River NAS, sometime in the late 1940s.
Paint is Vallejo & Model Master Dark Sea Blue with Model Master International Orange stripes; a coat of floor polish for the gloss under the transfers, which came from the spares box; then a coat of Clear Matt and it was done.

I didn't have any suitable White 'NAVY' markings, which stalled the project for a while: I tried dry rub lettering, but getting them lined up and spaced correctly didn't happen.
Then I had a fossick through a friend's bits and pieces, where I found a sheet of them and it was away again.
