I have heard this before, problem is they'd been clogged for a number of years so I'm not sure it would've worked.

Not much done on the Swordfish, still need to look out the plastic rodding and strip to make the tailhook, though I do have some piano wire available in a pinch. As to the next project, Merlin's have been acquired from a Matchbox Mossie as well as the cowling from the wing to try and make it look nicer. Of course this, coupled with other discussions elsewhere have given me yet another idea... One at a time boy!  :banghead:  :banghead:

Burn the Heretic!  ;)  ;D

Ordinarily I'd agree, but I made the mistake of trying to tackle four biplanes at once and that shot the mojo for a long time. One was completed, two need the outer struts and undercarriage attached (one of which is the €$^%><_ Matchbox Siskin) and one took a flying leap from the desk and, luckily for it, is going to be rebuilt as a Whif.

Currently aiming for one repair/completion, one RW and one Whif at a time. A slow easing back in to things after a horrible year.

Getting back into modelling after a horrible time ain't easy. I had such last year. I have three Lightning wiffs as a reminder of how things were.

Take care.

Fair enough; as has been said: Build Your Models, Your Way.

Similar to the way I work. 2 on the go at once, 3 at most suits the way I work.

Best of luck getting back into things

Thanks chaps.

So you know that feeling where you stretch your arm out in bed and feel a tiny bobbly bit under your hand, think it's plaster but want to double check, so turn on the light at 3am to find it's the tiny piece missing from the front of your model? No? Well that's the rather bizarre and fortuitous situation they played out for me last night! Perhaps unsurprisingly I glued it on straight away so it didn't do a disappearing act and after looking at several pictures and making multiple rotations fixed it firmly in place. Now if only I could do the same for the Vickers gun and tailhook!

Can't say I've ever had that sensation, but it sounds like a good reason to spend more time in bed, to me!   ;D

No, but I've had random bits turn up MILES from where I'd dropped them... I put it down to being caught in trouser cuffs, or shoe laces... or down the side of my slippers...

So, had a brainwave earlier. I have a Frog Blackburn Shark that's destined to be a land based Whif meaning it has no need for any naval bits like a tailhook. This has subsequently been pinched and shortened a little to make it more suitable for the Swordfish which will enter the paintshop, probably tomorrow

This now means that my first Whif in quite a while will now pass over the table. All I will say is it has a pair of wings that will make Kit very happy  ;D

😆 Well it made me smile. 😆

I have thought about making a catalogue of my spare parts, manually and digital. I have sorted out the instructions, decals and paint in separate storage boxes, the I'll save that part as it might be useful box, the current parts to finish off my started builds and the I've been looking for that for ages box. Just waiting for the time to refine and the smaller boxes to arrive.
Most of the time I don't know what the finished model will look like, is it finished or can it be recycled.

Love it already.  ;D

And the Shark is one of my fave biplanes anyway, not that I have that many mind you. It's those varied chord wings and the lack of very many wires, thanks to the Warren Truss struts.
