Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Good start.

I saw a picture once where someone had made models of a KC-135 refuelling a BUFF, pinned together by the refuelling boom extending into a base, as Weaver suggested..

in 1/72...  :o

A definite ceiling-hanger.

There was a pairing of a KC-10 and a B-2 in 1/144 on the UK show circuit a couple of years ago, done in similar fashion. It was very easy to hide the support struts under the B-2 of course, lots of wing area to play with,
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I understand that some of you might like for me to build an "in flight" display if possible. I'd like that too.
But the reality is that I don't have the necessary materials or money to create such a display.
Second, it might be too large to store/transport.
Third, then I need to figure out the "engineering challenges" of how to support the bomber and any other aircraft it may be refueling.
Fourth, not really looking at this time to buy any extra 1/72 aircraft to use to be refueled from the bomber.

You build and display it the way you want to my friend.

It's your model

In my mind, this kit has always been a BAe Vulcan II. I have one in the StashTM, sitting in a seriously mangled original box on a shelf. One day, I will build it, paint it wrap-around DSG/DG and have it deliver appropriate internal stand-off munitions on select, high-value neo-Soviet targets. One day...
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

I have similar ideas for the one I have, either that or a Shackleton II, maritime patrol bomber, in all over EDSG, and a load of anti ship missiles and anti sub munitions.

Since this build is a what if aerial refueling tanker, What to do with that pesky molded in ALCM missile detail in the weapons bays?
ANSWER: It has to go! Well, be hidden anyway as it serves no useful purpose for a tanker aircraft.
Pic below showing what I intend to do.

That bomb-bay detailing is heinous, isn't it?The other thing you could have dome is just cut the roof of the bay off and replace it with plasticard, but it's too late now, of course.

I think all the boxes are mangled. I've got two, one in a mangled open box, and another who's box is mangled even though it's in it's original clear plastic shrink-wrapping. I think they put the shrink-wrap on too tight at the factory.

I'm not suggesting you 'must', or 'have to' do that, just mentioning a model I saw in a magazine, should you have wished for inspiration...  <_<

Did I forget to mention how big this model was?
IT's THAT BIG!  :o
Wings have been glued to the center fuselage section. Not sure when I'll get around to painting it. Maybe late May or early June. Currently thinking about using Vallejo spray can # 28.002 Panzer Grey. So I'll put the model aside for now until I'm ready to spray paint it later. Next on the TO DO list will probably be assembling the landing gear and/or working on figuring out how to build the refueling boom that goes in the aft bay. Oh, and also filling the wing/fuselage seams with putty. And one last thing: This bomber is heavy too. Hope the landing gear will hold/support all the weight.  :o

Could you carefully add some paperclips or brass rod to the gear? Or maybe replace the struts entirely with same?

I think that SAC does a white metal kit for the landing gear, although the landing gear is pretty sturdy or it was on my model.I used a vertical tail fin from the old Airfix Avro Vulcan B.2 at first then found a second one to become a twin tail fins.
