Nearly there.  Painting of fiddly bits almost complete.
I added the rest of the transfers today.  Looks good even if I say so myself.
Won't be long now.

I can hardly wait.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Fairey Rotodyne SB "Tinydyne"

Fairey Tinydyne - 1 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr

The Rotodyne SB (Short Body) was introduced by Fairey once the standard bodied Rotodynes started to achieve commercial success and in parallel with the Rotodyne 2.0.  It was aimed at the upper end of the market.  The same range but less passengers carried in more luxury.  What would later become known as an executive jet.

In addition to the shorter body the Tinydyne (as it became known - Fairey favoured Bizdyne but it didn't stick) had shorter wings (sorry Kit), a three blade rotor, and introduced the Mk 2 "HushKit" rotor tip nozzles.  Engines were Napier Eland N.EI.8 turboprops (developed versions of the N.EI.3 fitted to the standard 'dyne).

Unlike previous iterations of the 'dyne family the TInydyne did not have rear cargo doors as it carried only passengers.  A small galley was located at the rear of the fuselage through which a rear access door could be reached.

Prototype Rotodyne SB and Operational Rotodyne 2.0 pictured together.  TAA operated a number of the 2.0 model and later bought the SB.  The following image may have been taken while TAA were conducting trials.

The Model.

Airfix Vintage Classic Rotodyne (don't buy the new ones.  If you want to build one buy the oldest example you can find - the moulds will have been in better condition when it was made).  Fuselage and wings shortened.  All rivets sanded off.
Resin 1/48 Mil 24 Tail Rotor hub parts combined with scratch for main rotor hub.
Tip nozzles scratched up from Gundam parts and rocket pod covers.

That's MAGNIFICENT Fred, really REALLY good.    :drink:

And of course it would have shorter wings, ALL of it's shorter anyway. Not a problem, but don't let it happen too often, OK?  ;D

And i've saved the bits I removed to make a Mightydyne.  Wings are already lengthened.

Nice. The main engines look overpowered/-sized, but I really like the rotor blade tip jets. Great!
