Only me, Martin fitted the fin-top fairing early in the machine's life.

I can't find the lovely RAF B-51 that someone did here recently (the search engine would make a good chocolate fireguard sometimes!  :banghead: ) but he had one on there too, and mentioned it the backstory.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Logan did the profiles.  I must have missed the other build.

I remembered who built it.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks Chris, that's the one. A lovely build, really looks the part.

Mine will be somewhat different.  ;D

Here it is with WINGS (OOB length too....) and a canopy!

One of the things everyone knows about the XB-51 is that the wings have a LOT of anhedral, and it has to be right so that the outriggers touch the ground as well as the main gear pairs. But the instructions don't mention ANYthing about the anhedral, and show all sorts of diagrams of how it should look EXCEPT a head-on view!  :banghead:  :banghead:

I can see lots of fiddling and faffing about when it comes time to fit the outriggers. :(

This build came to a grinding halt about a year and a half ago, but I just came across it sitting on top of a Revell Lancaster box, as you do, and had a look inside.

I'd forgotten how much work I'd already done on it, and I think it's time for a restart, especially as I have two tins of the lovely HyCote grey primer just sitting there............  ;D

A half built model and a plan, what's not to love?

IIRC the XB-51 featured in a 1950s William Holden film, but blowed if I can remember what it was called.

Indeed it did, as the 'Gilbert XF-120 Fighter' and the film was 'Toward the Unknown' It even had XF-120 painted on the nose for the occasion!

A less likely 'fighter' would be hard to imagine!  :o

Unless it was going to ADC as an interceptor with a belly full of Falcons and Genies.

F-105, F-111 and F-117 have entered the chat.
🤣
F-105 should've been and "A" and the F-111 a "B".
As to the F-117, a "Q" designation
would have caused even more confusion.

That actually might have been a good use for the thing, but it would probably need more powerful engines.  I find it hard to imagine something like that not being better than the F-89J.
