Ok, thanks. I know what you mean. That's why the bearcat has this "hump" and  the canopy perching on top of it.

Same reason why the Sea Fury looks like a humped back Tempest. All the better to see the carrier deck..........
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I think i got it figured out about the brand: Hughes...not Grumman.

And why not:
The H4 (Spruce goose) was developed in 1942-1947 and had R4360's. The XF-11 had R4360's. Hughes also have a history in fast single engined aircraft and is know for making exceptional aircraft..

I do feel the P-47 canopy fits the Hughes theme a little better. Although the XF-11 also has a very nice frameless canopy. Anyway, based on the tails of the XF-11 I need to reshape the vertical tail a little.
