The cockpit(s) are all assembled, painted and glued in place on  the starboard fuselage half now. You'll note that the GIB's cockpit is higher than the Pilot's in my model, unlike the 'stock' MB6 where it's meant to be attached lower than the pilot's. That's to fit with my scheme to tilt the canopy up at the rear etc.

It'll mean scratching the cockpit surround and fairing it into the rear deck, but I managed that OK with the 'Double Pancake' last year, so I hope that will stand me in good stead for doing this one.

By the time you're reading this the two fuselage halves will be glued together and the odd bit of PSR applied.

Well, OK, a LOT of PSR will have been applied.....  :-\

Start off using the spare decking in the Matchbox Meteor?

Yes Lee, that may well work.

Sadly my Meteor bits are 120 miles away from me at the moment so I may have to scratch some bits around the spare MB5/6 fuselage tops that I have, 4-5 of them!

I should have noticed and remarked on it when I built my MB5 Monsooooooon pylon racer.

The AZ MB5 kit has totally wrong main gear apertures, they're moulded circular, but the real thing had semi-circular main gear doors and triangular inner doors, as fitted to my MB5 Monsoon PR3 build. Quite how I managed to miss this on the Monsooooon racer I've no idea, but then it had no inner doors anyway, and neither does the AZ kit.

This MB6 Sea Monsoon will be corrected, just as soon as I can figure out how to do it....

Like this Kit, I had noticed the same thing and corrected my build. I also added the radiator exit door which the kit doesn't have ---

Yes, exactly like that Robert.

I can't think how I missed it on the Monsooooon when I'd just done it properly on the PR3.  :banghead: :banghead:

I also had to glue in some little styrene tube sockets where the u/c legs are fitted into, as the kit is, you can not get the proper angle the u/c legs should be set at. The little tube sockets adds a bit of extra length which then allows you to set the u/c correctly. For those who are wondering what I'm talking about, the u/c leg slopes forward at quite a raked angle.

As you can see in this photo of my Airframe vacuform;

And another thing...........

Those HUGE bulges under the outer wings of the AZ kit, on both the MB5 and 6. What are they about? On the real thing they're only JUST visible, just a small fairing, presumably to cover the aileron linkages, but they're nowhere near as big as the ones in the kit.

I've filed all mine off, right down to nothing, figuring a production aircraft would have them made as small as possible.

The bulges on the Pegasus kit are pretty big too.

The 3-View in Vol.VII of Aircraft of the Fighting Powers, shows the bulges too, only they seem to be half an elongated tear drop, roughly 6" wide, 6" deep and about 12" long, judging by the scale that's included on the drawing.
The bulges on the kit are too wide and not long enough.

Looks as if the aileron linkage goes all the way to that area?

edit:
A photo I saw on secretprojects also suggests that there is a rod for aileron actuation in there. And there must be some kind of a pivot where the bump is.

Exactly.

The bulges on the AZ kits are about 1/32 scale, ne3ver mind 1/72.

Got the fuselage, fin and stuff together now, even the under nose bulge that AZ give you for the MB6. I used it as it makes a much more visible intake than the tiny bulge that they provide with the MB5 mouldings. All the wing parts are done too, PSR'd and re-scribed and I've added a resin radar pod to the starboard wing. The prop's ready to go on when it's all finished and the tailplanes are ready to glue on as well.

I'm waiting for a few useful bits to arrive from a 'valued supplier' on here  ;D and some of the lovely turned brass cannon to arrive from Master and then I can start putting it together.
