Northrop Stingray MR.1
« on: January 04, 2021, 03:38:28 am »
This started life as the 1/72 AMT/ERTL/Italeri Northrop Y/XB-35 Northrop flying wing and it did have four engines from the 1/72 Revell/Monogram Convair RB-36H Peacemaker kit but this didn't go to plan. So whilst having a rummage I found the remains of the 1/72 Testors B-2 Stealth Bomber and I have used the middle section of the upper fuselage on the XB-35. This still retains the X/YB-35 landing gear and the twin-wingtip tail fins from the Airfix Avro Shackleton MR.2 kit  Most of the parts from the Testors kit fit on the upper fuselage, but it will be like fitting pieces of a jigsaw puzzle underneath and fettling them to cover the gaps.
This now has an upper deck as the original cockpit can still be seen,  perhaps an M.A.D. boom at these rear with sonorbouy launch tubes and a weapons bay. Extra windows wil added l be along the upper deck.

The Airfix Avro Shackleton MR.2 wingtip tail fins have been removed,  in their place is the rudders from the AMT/ERTL Northrop YB-49 kit.
