The Avro Mock Tudor!
« on: December 31, 2020, 09:55:55 am »
Hi Guys,
I have a 1/72 Revell DC-4 Balair/Icelandic Airways kit in the stash. In my opinion it's over engineered with tons of interior details which won't be seen. Seats are provided for the passengers,  but apart from having the cargo door open I can't see them through the passenger windows.
The wings from the Airfix Avro Shackleton MR.2 appear to fit which made me think of the Avro Tudor and the modified Super Trader.
I know that the vertical tail fin isn't the correct shape as the Tudor but the overall size is similar. I plan to use the twin tail wheels from the Shackleton. I think that I have the resin Mk85s engines although the Tudor was fitted with Rolls-Royce Merlins Mk100 and Merlin 621s on the Tudor II.
The nose landing gear will be used on the Heller DC-6B Sea Serpent MR.1 build,  whilst the passenger seats will be used on other future builds.
I have a DC-3 in the stash but the DC-5 looks very impressive. I wonder if that can be kitbashed as the model seems a bit pricey.

I had to change the name,  black beams on a white fuselage is an option.
