Whilst work progresses slowly on the Skua, a chance discovery in the stash of the PM Model Spitfire Vb floatplane whilst searching for something else gives me the chance to build both the Vb and IXb in tandem, with two different end-users

More progress on both the Mk.IX and Vb versions, including a scratch build cockpit for the PM Vb using the Brengun parts as templates

Why weren't the Mk Vs 'true float Spitfires'?

I'm amazed and pleased that it did survive.
My Dad saw the Mk Vs when they were testing in the Canal Zone, and I always thought he was having me on about floatplane Spitfires until I read up about them years later.

A little more progress with the Mk.V - the Mk.IX is not far behind on the production line
