SEEKING KITS FOR THERAPY
« on: November 29, 2019, 09:06:08 pm »
Hi all,
Iíll be honest. Iíve been dealing with mental health issues including a hospital stay after misusing medication, and have developed nasty social anxiety (right now Iím waiting for my wife to advise she and her friend are ready to be picked up from the wedding I left due to a panic attack) and the only thing thatís been helping is styrene. Being at The Bench has made me the happiest Iíve been in months and is wonderful therapy. However this means Iíve been paring down my stash at a rate Iíve not experienced since my first days on this site. However, I was recently made redundant from my job due to a downsizing and both wife and I have been applying for work left right and centre without luck - government support is helping but things are not good. Weíve sold furniture, clothes, as much as we can to get a bit extra for bills and food. I canít spare even $5 for a bottle of flat black paint.

I know this will come across as greedy, maybe even demanding, and I feel shame even submitting this post, but Iíd like to ask for specific kits (yes, this beggar is a little choosy) that you may not get around to and are happy to send to someone whoís trying to cope the best he can and canít pay in anything but gratitude.

Revell ZeppelinNT

This is a ridiculous thing to do. I know IĎM not as active on the board as I used to be but this has always been the home of my models online and Iíve enjoyed being part of the community. Times are hard and this silly hobby of ours is the only thing thatís helping me through. God knows why Iím crying while I type this.

If you can help me Iíll be incredibly grateful. If the mods or anyone else thinks this is way out of line please PM me and remove the topic.

Thank you.

EDIT: thanks to the kind souls who have been in touch  Iíll amend the list to remove offered kits and avoid undeserved double-ups

I fully understand where you are coming from. I've been in in similar situations myself. Don't feel bad about asking for help, we all get in a position where some help is required at some point in life or another. I wish I had kits you have listed but afraid not. Are there some second choices?

I don't know about the health care system in NZ. Is there a possibility of medical help even if you are out of work?
There's someone in my head, but it's not me!

I may have some of the 1/72 stuff Zac, but I'll have to dig into the very depths of The Loft to find them.

Thanks Kit, and PM received thank you MM :-)

My doctor has been very generous with discounted or free appointments and our pharmacy is currently offering free prescriptions, so that has been a big help! Our systemís pretty good but Iím unclear on much of it...I have an appointment this week with a social worker so Iíll prepare some questions.

Iíll be honest, I didnít want to go crazy with my wishlist! Iíll have a think and see if I can think of anything else within reason.

Here in Seoul, I've got access to the cheapest Academy kits around... so check your PM re: that Academy P-40M/N you're after.

We've all been there, man.  Take care.
Thanks!

Hmm, out of your list I can only come up with two of them, a Lindberg Arado 234B and an AModel Wilga. :(

The Ar234 is the earlier twin engined version, not the 4 engined Frog 234C with the V1 on its back.

If they're any good to you please PM me your snailmail addy and I should be able to get them in the post over the next couple of days.

Zac do that and take notes as well. It helps to be able to take them home and digest them. You may then need to go back with farther questions.

I know where you are at the moment, mate, having been there before.  Unfortunately I don't have the kits you're after but if you want some others, I have some spare you can have.  Drop me a PM if you're interested.
