Skybolt: At Arms Length by Nicholas Hill.  Covers the development of Skybolt for the RAF and homegrown attempts to produce an alternative running up to it and immediatley after the cancellation.  Sounds like an interesting companion to BSP Hypersonics and Missiles.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
