Space Battleship Iowa or Missouri or....?

Kinda got the idea to perhaps do this after finishing watching the entire rebooted Space Battleship Yamato 2199 anime series last night. Was thinking of possibly converting either a Tamiya 1/350 scale WWII Missouri hull or a modern New Jersey hull, into a Space Battleship Iowa spaceship battleship.
I've got a few extra Gundam robot model kits that I can rob parts from that might look good for a space battleship. I was also thinking of "reducing" the size of the bridge and superstructure area to that of 1/700 scale. In other words, I'd like to put a 1/700 scale bridge and superstructure onto a 1/350 scale hull. Doing this will make the ship look bigger. Anybody who has seen or read about the SBY2199 series will know that the Yamato was made "a lot bigger" in the series. The ship just looks better and more accurate dimensionally.
I'm looking for ideas and suggestions for adding and building the main guns, AA guns, superstructure, engines, and all other features.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Works for me. Are you adding a spinal weapon as well?

Blast from the past. Bringing this topic forth again as I'm contemplating new ideas and questions.
When my best friend died, his wife and sister allowed me to recieve his large model kit stash. One of the kits he had was a BANDAI 1/500 scale Space Battleship Yamato. Picture below.
Unfortuneately, he started building the kit. And over past years, I have the sinking feeling that some parts may be missing. As for what, I do not know. I'm not really thrilled about trying to sit down at the kitchen table and go through the instruction book and all sprues looking to see what is and isn't there.  :banghead:
I don't really need another Space Battleship Yamato as I already built a 1/500 scale BANDAI kit of one long ago that was a much better rendition and based on the rebooted Star Blazers 2199 anime tv series several years ago.
So..........what to do with the current SBY kit that my best friend had?
Continue to try and find all parts and build it as is?
Or rob parts from it and kitbash a Space Battleship Iowa (or New Jersey or Missouri, etc).
Somehow, I don't think my friend would mind seeing a Space Battleship Iowa. I mean, he did love the Iowa class battleships too.

My initial plans were to use a TAMIYA 1/350 scale WW2 Missouri hull and structures. I would also keep all the 5"/38 turrets on the ship. But use a bunch of the Space Battleship Yamato AA turrets (plus some spares I have also) to put around the ship. And maybe put some VLS missile launchers in the area between the smokestack funnels, but am not sure yet. I like the WW2 era hull because I can use the 40mm gun tubs as "shields" so to speak to put the SBY AA guns in. The AA guns would be "slightly" protected by the round walls of those gun tubs.
How I would create a wave motion gun or even a large engine at the stern, I have no idea yet. Need to do some hard thinking on that.
I would also keep all three 16" gun turrets on the Iowa. The SBY main gun turrets at 1/500 scale are too small. But if I can find a way to somehow use them, I will.
I'm also thinking of changing the paint scheme too. Instead of a red hull bottom like on the SBY, I am thinking of going with a medium or dark blue.
Pictures below of some of my ideas.

I was just thinking that if this is in space then turrets and various launchers could be anywhere on the ship. The hull sides and even the bottom. Every movie space craft has a "top" and "bottom" even when there is no gravity. So I suppose it could have stuff anywhere.

Yeah, you are right. There could be stuff "anywhere". I could even possibly put gun turrets on the "bottom" of the ship like in the below sample pic.
But the hardest challenge won't be the armament for this model idea. It's actually designing and creating the following three things:
1. Possibly add a wave motion gun at the front?
2. Adding a round (or other shaped) engine system at the rear.
3. Making the Iowa class hull and structures more "future-like" or keep some of the 20th century Iowa asthetics the same?

Some sort of single engine large scale aircraft back half grafted on might work. Might have to be 1/32nd.

Except I don't have anything in my stash that's 1/32 scale that I can rob parts from.

And then there's item #4:
Do I really want to build this as a space battleship if it were in the SBY universe? Or should I just build it as a normal Iowa class battleship that got turned into a spaceship?
If the former, then I'd have to make it look more like the Yamato or other spaceships from that universe with curved hull, round engine at the back, etc., etc., etc.
If the latter, then I could just design it however I wanted and not make it adhere to any sci-fi series/universe.

There's not much you can do about the slab sided hull  but that is a trademark of the Iowa class/US battleships.  ABS plumbing pipe will solvent weld to styrene, so that could give you some options. I found some Ikea legs that are 1.5" OD styrene- parts are out there - just keep looking.  and this sounds like a good use for the Yamato bits.
