The topless Beetle looks great!

The off register decals on the AMT kit give it a 3D look, though.

Note to self.  Gap in blog due to hospital visit for heart surgery.

So, day two of the rest of my life.  Running in the new valve.
Wide awake at 4am staring into the dark.  In the long silences of the night I can hear my pulse.  It used to swoosh like waves on a shingle beach but now it thumps like an engine* on tickover.  This is comforting.

*Long stroke single cylinder motorcycle engine.  The sort of big lazy engine British manufacturers used to build which could haul a double adult sidecar up the side of a house in top gear without breaking a sweat.

No modelling today.  Not in the shed anyway.  I just didn't seem to get round to it.  I did make some appointments, do 90% of the work designing the transfers for the Pe8 though, watched an episode of the Dukes of Hazzard, and multiple episodes of Full Custom Garage (Ian Roussel is someone I admire), and had a nap.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Not a bad way to spend the day. Sounds like your days and nights got mixed up in the hospital. Stay awake all day so you can sleep at night!

Glad to hear the new parts are treating you well, I hope they do a slightly better job of keeping all your fluids inside than a big BSA single would!
Perfect is the enemy of Finished. I presume. I've never achieved either.

The rehab advisor in the hospital compared it to jetlag.  Which it feels like, with added aches and pains.
I'm pretty much back in synch but according to my reading insomnia is common amongst heart surgery patients.  I've never been that good a sleeper anyway.

Easy, easy, one step at a time. Listen to your body and let it do what it needs to heal itself. We're remarkably good at fixing ourselves if we can only learn to get out of our own way...

For those unfamiliar, imagine an engine with the same rhythm as "Flash" by Queen at tickover.

The standing joke about Panther big singles was that they didn't need a rev counter because it was one thump per lampost...
