I salute you re the rigging sir

Thank you sir.
I glued all the struts to the upper wing, painted it, added the transfers, and attached all the rigging.  Then I glued the upper wing in place.
There are still two long cabane struts to add and some rigging on the undercarriage.

Not heard of that way to do rigging before, but it obviously works   Mind you rigging is a case of "find a method that you are comfortable with and stick to it"

Best of luck with the undercarriage, that can be the most awkward sometimes. I gave up rigging about 10 years ago when my hand/eye issues made it impossible  :-\  Even the Wingnut kit I have is a monoplane  ;D

I find that while the upper wing is separate it is easier to work on.  More space.

Are you sure it's a Bulldog, Fred?

I know it has "BULLDOG" written in big letters on the side, but they're big, depressing black letters, not big cheerful red letters. So it may be a ruse!

Thanks, Charlie! People so under-rate George Harrison as a lead guitarist!

One of my favourite Beatles songs.

I am sure Womby.  The transfers on the wings and tail reinforce that fact.

Yup, he was very much underrated at the time. Mind you all the squealing girls only had eyes for John and Paul.  ;D

Dentist today.  Some pain has been present which has hopefully been sorted.  Still a bit tender on that side but i've not had to take any pain killers since Vlad had his fingers in my gob.

Charger is coming along.  I've printed the transfers and am hand painting some black trim around the windows before clearing the body.
<Mental note.  Test that Vallejo acrylic paint does not read with SMS clear lacquer>
I've managed to keep the working steering, ummm working by being careful with the glue.  Wheels point in slightly different directions due to a too short tie rod but I can live with that by always posing it with them turned.
I did manage to crack the centre of a wheel pressing on a tight fitting backing but it seems to have glued back OK and as they are painted black I could touch the paint up.

Putting my latest stash additions away involved rearranging what is already there to get things to fit and I had a moment of panic when I thought I had lost a kit - one of two Airfix DH Herons.  I could find the Vintage Classics repop but where was the old red stripe release?  Had it fallen off the back of the shelf down the back between the cupboard and the shed wall where to get at it I would have to unpack and move the entire former bathroom vanity I had wedged in under my bench?
Luckily, no.  It turned out to be at the bottom of the box where I keep the unbuilt spitfire kits scale modelling legislation mandates I possess.
Which meant I could relax.
As a bonus I also found a Pioneer 2 Yak 15 i'd been wondering if I really had which had slipped behind a stack of kits but luckily not dropped off the back of the shelf.

Sounds like you need to pre-empt and put a backing on the shelving...

zenrat

I should have done that when I installed it.  To do so now would require taking it out from under the bench and that would require moving a lot of other recycled furniture.
I will just have to be careful.

Now, where have I heard that before?
Oh yeah - coming out of my own mouth.
And was I?
Not always...  :banghead:

Could you 'sleeve' it with cardboard boxes?
Like a 'C' channel lining the the top, back and base?
Just a thought.

zenrat

I could empty it and then gaffer tape some cardboard in place.  I've got four weeks off mostly at home coming up so I might get to it.  Maybe...

And as the next GB doesn't start until Dec 1 (amphibians - I have a VVA14 earmarked for it) I have started some more builds.
An OOB Dodge Coronet Super Stocker - 1/25 Revell - and an Airfix rag wing Hurricane.  The Hurricane is being back dated to become its own mother - open cockpit, cut down rear fuselage, and monster spats.  Silver dope and polished metal finish.  The Hawker Whirlwind - because they got to use the name first  .

I like the sound of all of those on your list Fred.

The Hurri sounds a bit like the hawker Cyclone I did a few years ago, a half way house from the Fury to the Hurricane.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
