I haven't tried airbrushing it yet but even brushed on it's a step up from Alclad chrome.

Good to know. I'm a fan of Humbrol's Metalcote, but always good to have a backup.

This morning before work I removed the Chevelle's front suspension and shifted the whole K frame forwards (I was wrong about having to carve anything away - that would be required if I was moving it backwards).  It's an improvement.

VW is finished.  More pics later.

Last time this happened I dreamed up this...

...(OK, so in the dream it was a pair of FW190s) and a Rocket powered Me 110 with trelliswork tail-boom.
Last night I dreamed of a B17 with a space shuttle merged with the rear of the fuselage so that the tail fin of the shuttle replaced the Boeing's fin.  It was bristling with extra gun turrets and the cargo doors of the shuttle were still there.
I blame a combination of the Space GB and Phill's Fortriberator for this.
 ;)
😄 🤣 😂... I'm in your head now am I. ???
I honestly feel sorry for ya mate

All ya builds look great bud ..really cool 😁 😎

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

You really don't want to be in my head.  It's not a nice place.

Ah, this would definitely be a pre-speed-humps VW, I think...

Nicely done Sir, the paint job in particular!

Thanks H.  I've been wanting to build something with Monster Magnet artwork for a while and when the special theme for next year's Ballarat Show was announced as "German" I realised I could combine that with the colours of the flag and it all came together.

Yes indeed, much more like the real thing.

They screwed up the original kit design totally!

I wonder if the chassis was previously used for a different model?  Their '67 Chevelle for example?
Here's someone else's build of the '67 kit.

Front wheel arches are shorter than the '66 wagon kit.  It could be they just extended them forward when they made the wagon and didn't bother changing the chassis mould to move the front clip forward to put the wheels centre on the hole.

I have a built '67 Chevelle sedan in a display case in my shed.  I can't remember though if it was AMT or Revell - they both kitted 1/25 examples.  I'll have to have a look.

This wagon is complete except for the exhausts.
While having a rummage in the stash I found I also have a Revell '66 Impala.  Same manufacturer, same year, same engine, but a bigger car.
I have more than a few 60's Chevrolet kits as having built a decade of satin black Chevies (50 to 59) I was pondering doing the same for 60 to 69.  I bought the kits (and then some) but got distracted and never built them.

I know the feeling, I have BOXES of 1/24-35 car kits in The Loft and I've not even looked at them for years. :(
