O FRABJOUS DAY!

Upcoming family commitments were going to cause me to lose my hobby room next year, wasn't sure if the production line could continue. But providence of some kind smiled on me, as the young lad who lives in our basement has found himself a place and will be vacating in a couple of weeks. I will have running water, which is always a plus when doing things like wet-sanding, a bathroom, which us older gents often need, lots more storage space, and I'll still have a window for my spray-booth vent. It will also give me more flexibility in setting up a 'studio' for my YouTube videos, and I can hang a green screen a lot easier.

WINNING!  ;D

Can't you get close ups?
 ;)

Smashing pics.  The Cardinal looks like someone gave it a squirt with a rattle can or air brush.  A stunning bird.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

Thanks! All of them are cropped from larger photos, but the 45 megapixel sensor combined with the incredible clarity of the Canon 100-500mm zoom retains a lot of detail. The cardinal is an excellent winter bird, although it lives here year-round. Winter really gives them a chance to stand out among bare branches or snow.

500 mm is where it's at for pics like them Ratty. Superbly done.

Thanks! A lot of pros would go for a 600mm at least, and many would go to 800mm f4, but once you get into that price range they're worth more than the car that gets me to the birding spots!  ;D

That is a first rate set of pictures,  and far surpasses my efforts with an old Nikon F1, a 200mm lens and an antiquated 2x extender.   I'm impressed!

And they're so heavy you need a fork lift truck to hold the camera.  :-\

This combination comes in at around 5 Lbs. Can't believe I used to walk around all day with a rifle twice that weight.  ;D  But I picked up a 5 Lb dumbell, keep it beside the computer, and when I'm watching a youtube video or summat I'll pick it up and do some lifts just to keep the arms in shape.
