It's almost true.

Court Line DID buy a Beverley to shift their RB211s about, but it never got painted up in any of their glorious schemes sadly, and it was dispatched up North, but it went to the Army Museum of Transport at Beverley appropriately. Later on, when the Museum was forced to close, it went to Paull, where it still remains, the only Beverley left in the world.  :banghead:

I bought a 1/144 Bev kit at Telford this year, and fully intend to paint it in a Court scheme but not that purple, it's far too sickly for my taste.
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Many years ago, We took our boys to the Beverley museum. They were delighted to be allowed to sit in the driver's seat, but getting a 6 year old and a four year old up there was "interesting"............and YES!  Madame R and I enjoyed it too!d

Mad; I'm sure it'll be challenging!  I like the blue tones.

Tophe will LOVE that! ;D

It's probably doable in plastic too, with a 1/144 scale B-17G and two P-38J kits.

The museum in Paull has closed and won't reopen, everything is up in the air:

These are always the best finds. "Why is that?" Good question.... in cases like this the answer is that they were found in places that aren't strictly to do with model kit building and might otherwise go un-noticed.

By Dave Bailey found on the "The Greatest Planes That Never Were" page.

Dave, are you here already???

"In the early 1950s Canada was bringing the CF-100 into service as an all-weather interceptor into service, and realised that an attack aircraft was also needed. The requirements were that it be stable at low-level, rugged enough to withstand cold weather and dirt airfields, and speed in the high subsonic range. The Saab Lansen seemed ideal for the role, and was also coming on-line at the same time. After test flights by Canadian pilots garnered very favourable reviews, it was decided to purchase the type.

Various subtle modifications enabled the aircraft to fulfill the roles of ground attack, anti-shipping, and interceptor, and was a fair-weather complement to the CF-100. Those based in Europe wore a standard grey/green camouflage, while some Canadian based squadrons utilised a grey/white winter scheme.

This is the Heller 1/72nd example, and I found it a rather enjoyable build, but the subject matter no doubt helped in that. A purposeful looking aircraft, and one that isn't often modeled."
