Looks small, even for a 1/48.  Are you whiffing it Jon?
Fred

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

My name is Commander William Riker.  Take me to your women.

It's tiny - IIRC smaller than a 1/72 Spitfire.

Is it just my imagination, or does the driver of the machine in the box art look ever so slightly uneasy?

He should be - IRL the prototype disappeared and was washed ashore a couple days later... pilot did not survive.

Five were built, the kit represents the original configuration, two were built.

The one that crashed was the third built, and was a larger aircraft, 21' 9" wingspan vs.
15' of the first two, and it was quite a bit different in other ways. Numbers 4 and 5
were the same, all three being powered by a Ford built horizontally opposed twin that
used Wright Whirlwind components.

Ah, ok then - old age and memory failing.  ;)
Hazy recollection of seeing it on the 'Treasures at the Museum' programme.
IIRC it was the death of a test/record-attempting pilot that made ol' Henry axe the project, though.

Alas and alak the Ford won't be finished, a combo of a busy summer and
getting stalled on the execution of the engines. Tried a number of different
configurations using various plastic tubes, cut down bombs or drop-tanks for
nacelles etc. Some looked too archaic, others too slick and modern.
Also as I work almost exclusively in 1/48, I had little in the way of 1/72,
or smaller, bits-n-bobs to work with.
 :banghead:

Chris, if you'd be so kind to move it over to Current Projects 'twould be
most appreciated. Ta.
