A good description of a Whitley, 'Nicely Ugly'.
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

If you repainted the blue one (DC3 wings) in standard Luftwaffe camouflage I reckon you could fool some people into thinking it was an RW radial engine version of the He-111.  ;)

From a Do 217 perhaps ?

There was one in China, an He 111 A-0 that was re-engined with Wright Cyclones in 1943.

As an aside Jon do you know what those markings are ?

The Manchukuo AF used characters on the fuselage, but then roundels on the wings. So I don't think it's one of their's ?

Cheers Jon. I thought it might have been in civil (or what passed for it) use.
